Ever since i was a year old my grandparents have been living with my mom & i.I love them dearly but since it has been almost 14 years they're getting much older & more grumpier. It affects more than you can realize. My grandmothers tv is blasting loud all day & whenever i ask her to turn it down she yells at me.I cannot get as much sleep as i used to because of this & usually am cranky in the morning going to school, it affects my behavior & school work.My grandfather makes my mom & i do all his chores which he is still capable of doing, usually i have to help when doing homework or when this in the middle of something important. My grandmothers anger is beyond annoying. She literally goes into every room in the house & picks an arguement with everyone that are not necessary!!!My mom is also annoyed but we're not going to put them an old people home & just be like that. It's just that its really affecting me, to the point where my doctor gave me a tape so i can relax.any way this can stop?

Probably not. This is something your mother needs to address. If your grandmother is having hearing problems, then she needs to see an ear doctor and maybe needs a hearing aid. If not, most tvs have headphone hookups, so headphones might work. You and your mom can also change rooms around so yours is farthest away. Earplugs at night might help with sleep.

As far as grumpiness, it goes with the territory. Your mom, again, needs to address this with her parents and their doctor. Are they bored, in pain or getting alittle dementia? All these things need to be ruled out and if its isn't any of these things, then your mom needs to stand up for you. Your mom also needs to put her foot down with her father and tell him that his chores are his chores and he needs to do them.

Try to think of creative ways to work around your grandparents and make it a habit of telling them when they have hurt your feelings. Sometimes old people just don't realize what they are doing.

can you ask your Mother about putting a lock on your bedroom door? Then, I would buy a set of headphones for my tv or stereo, so I can tune them out and have my own space. Seriously, I think your Mom should sit down with them and have a family talk especially if your grandfather is still able to help out and isn't. They need some house rules also.

You can get her some earphones that plug into the tv! If she refuses to wear them, then talk to your mother about how your school work is going to suffer and how you feel about gma's bitter attitude.
It sounds like you have very controlling gparents. Nothing can be done about that, so see if you could spend the night with a friend once a week so you can look for ward to some peace.

Living situations like this are hard. If your grandparents are still capable of taking care of themselves why doesn't your mother suggest that they move into a senior complex. There are individual apartments, no maintenance, and very inexpensive (Income guidelines) for them. I would call around and get some information about places like this in your area, suggest it to your mother, and then if she agrees present it to your grandparents. Maybe even take them to see the place.

you have my sypathies. Try those Bose headphones or earplugs. People un fortuneatly get grumpy and go more and more deaf with age but I'd just get some headphones for myself (or your grandma to hook up to the T.V.) and do the best you can to get by.
