that some superiority created us by some unknown force of power, over the theory of evolution?
i have tried to believe in a god, but i just can't take it seriously, let alone live by his "rules"
i mean, in school they teach us science, how the world and its people came about. They show charts of primates evolving into the humans we are, they talk about the wonders of nature and it's own creations.
why is there such strong mindset on religion today when we have the technology and thousands of proven facts that show how we, and the earth, came about?

please don't begin preaching god's word.
it's not what i'm asking for.

I'm as baffled as you are. The whole "god did it" explanation for everything seems so childish. I guess it was OK in the Dark Ages when nobody knew any better, but how anyone in a modern world can buy into it is beyond me.

I guess it is a matter of faith. You believe it or you don't. There have been MANY very intelligent people who believe deeply. I have had some problems with the basics after learning some of the things you mentioned, evolution is a biggie on my world of questions. Maybe we all have to wait and see. Each religion has their own set of ideas and ideals. We can't all be right, can we? I found the ones I believe and you will too, whether it be science or God. You will find what you like and bvelieve and live with it.
I hope that wasn't too preachy..lol

I really hate saying this to you: but based on your own words, you have been brainwashed. Those "charts of primates evolving into the humans" were based on artists imaginations. For example, how scientific is it when from a SINGLE TOOTH, one of those supposed missing link is fashioned? (Nebraska Man). The funny part was that it was later found out that it was a pig's tooth !!! What about the hoax of Piltdown Man? Or just selecting those animals that purported to support the evolution of the horse but ignoring those other horses that do not fit? Or the millions of missing links that are still MISSING?

The process of evolution is so distasteful that many EVOLUTIONISTS have proposed new mechanisms that are essentially miracles (hopeful monsters, punctuated equilibrium).

What I am wondering about is how a scientist could actually accept evolution (one species changing into a more complex one due to accumulated small changes) when the SCIENTIFIC evidence clearly shows that this just could not have happened.

What literature/books have you read from the opposing view? Here are a few that you may consider BEFORE you pass judgement.

1. Darwin's Black Box by Michael Behe
2. Tornado In a Junkyard by James Perloff
3. How Blind is the Watchmaker? by Neil Broom
4. Darwin on Trial by Phillip Johnson
5. Darwin Strikes Back by Thomas Woodward.

I have read these and others. And yes, I have also read books on evolution, including The Blind Watchmaker by Richard Dawkins.

Are you talking about theories and such? Because I missed the news brief saying that it has been proven???
Gravity which is considered a 'truth' has not being proven beyond a shadow of the doubt nor can love be explained why do humans seem to have this ability to experience wonderment? Do you really believe there is no logic or purpose for humans??
I know it can be difficult to think outside of the box but having faith in what I can not see or touch is not leap for me.
Take you time and get as much information as you can, get old (God willing) and then revisit your thoughts.

I have no idea why people take sides on this issue. Creation and evolution go hand in hand. Something or someone had to make that first little speck that created the big bang. something or someone had to be sure the mix was right for life here. Then life was allowed to run it's course. I see no problem.

It's reasonable for me to believe in both. I believe that God created the universe with its scientific laws and created humans and all other life forms through the process of evolution.

Because the theory of evolution does not explain why things were created.

In fact, the theory of evolution is in no way clashing with religion because it is simply an explanation on how living creatures evolve.

It does not say why.

And most people, like myself, believe that science on its own is not enough to live on. Because without religion, life has no meaning but to have sex and feed like any other creature.

And without God, humans have as much right as a plant does because humans do not have a specific dignity and reason of existence.

Hence, all those people who constantly ask themselves: why am I alive....

are they all just ...weird you think?

everything has a reason, and religion gives many people, meaning and direction.

well this whole world is standing on the pillars of the force. even the scientists believe that there is some supreme power in the world which is holding all the things harmoniously.
and to believe in God is not a hit and trial method. if you have to believe in god scientifically then you will alwys find it useless and superstitious.
i will suggest one thing .. just go and do one of the courses from Art of living.. i am frm U.s. and i also believed the same .. but that experiential course has changed my life and my pt. of view abt God and his existence..
if you want you can go to the site
www. artofliving.org and then go to the country where ever you live.

Both science and religion are progressive studies and disciplines. Towards the end of our searching, they will no longer be in conflict but they will merge into one and the same Truth.

god and evolution are not mutually exclusive actually. You can believe in both. Evolution is a fact, I also believe that the big bang theory is plausible. Even so, the matter for this ultra dense object that exploded to cause the big bang had to come from somewhere didn't it?
