I'm not trying to offend anyone here. It's just a personal story that I thought was interesting and well written.

The writer is a friend of my girlfriend. He was raised Christian and went to a Christian university, and used to speak adamantly in favor of Christianity. So you can NOT say he was "never a real Christian" or "just doesn't understand."

The essay is not too long, so I encourage you to give it a little thought.

That was very interesting and wordy. I wish he could have arrived at his conclusions before wasting time at ORU. Those people at ORU are the greatest con artists ever. I remember watching Oral Roberts on TV when I was a child fifty years ago or more. I at first thought he was for real because I was 8 or 9 years old. It only took a couple of years for me to finally see the truth that he was a fraud. My grandmother on the other hand used to send him money. I think they should pay it back with interest compounded. Thanks for the link. I bookmarked it as I would like to print it out. It was good, but needs to be put into better or simpler language.

I HAVE TO agree it is a bit boring ,, he seems to be rationaling where he is now becuse he went about studing other religious beliefs ?? YOUdont have to go to seminary to understand biblical truths GOD is not the GOD of the jews that is outragous ,,
GOD IS OUR GOD the creator of all life... its man that sepperrated himself from GOD into different ethnic groups .
AFTER THE WORLD wide flood came about GOD told man to spread out to populate the earth, after a while as always happens their be some that feel they dont need controls and want to do their own thing , they then move and others followthinking greater freedom comes apart from GOD..
when we sepperrate ourselves from GODS commandments we remove the wall of protection arround us as well.
you are made or created to worship so if u wont follow GOD u soon make up a GOD for yourself and after a time u may have others believing he exists too... the creator GOD SET UP A MEMORIAL TO REMIND HIS children of their creator that he alone is the one that created them and theirfore will provide also for them .
. when u decide that another person outside of GODS calling is better for u than someone that follows after the ways of the LORD u set up a big mess a cycle so to speak . children are not taught about the one tru GOD OR TRUTH IS MIXED WITH ERROR . in actuality that is far worse for u become blinded to whats real and whats false .. JUST LIKE this man did he went about comparrIng other religious faiths and got caught up in the meaningless of worship without knowledge n came away dishearted. DO U ACTUALLY THINK THAT IS NEW??. many of the hymns we read n sing came out of tragedy.. i sorry for this man he not completely lost though time is still on his side . ; brother murray , mj

I very conveniently separate faith from religion hence no struggle.
I left my church at the age of 19 (1968 SF Calif) and stayed away. That worked for me right up till life real kicked in.
It seems to me that with time and age alot of that stuff belief systems, eating habits etc are brought back to be revisited with wiser and calmer eyes.
I found that having a faith based belief system (not entirely bible) is not only comforting it is crucial.

that became particularly profound. :d i visit nevertheless choose for to worship the deity of my determination, even though it does bypass alongside with what i mentioned in yet another thread and somebody had my respond deleted. that question became: is god authentic? my reaction became "God(s) are guy's attempt to categorize and clarify some thing so enormous, it scares us. i'm Pagan, i choose for to worship a "sentient Cosmos" so which you would be able to desire to communicate in the varieties i will relate to and are regularly used and delicate with. ie gods and Goddess, faith initially became a proof, then a convenience and now a gadget used to regulate. is God authentic? sure , yet merely in our minds." thank you for that essay hyperlink.

Typical atheist. No future, no nothing to glorify, how sad. He had to spend thousands of dollars on school to finally realize he was an atheist. Wasteful spending. The reasoning of atheist people exasperates me and I will not put myself to the test to go any further. The End.

Although he might of spoken in favor for Christianity, it would seem his faith was grounded in the intellect rather than the heart. The heart knows truth unchanging while the mind knows truth by efficiency, logic, etc. It seems that he has been convinced by all the arguments against God, Christ, and his religion. That is only a working of the mind, for the heart cannot be converted unless there is a literal upheaval of faith. But too commonly today, one implies that reason supersedes faith while it is vice versa.

I read it.
I don't think Christianity can be attained only on an intellectual level......finding Jesus requires a decision of the Spirit on a childlike faith level.......when you experience him for yourself nobody can talk you out of it. Very interesting however she does sound Intelligent. Is that what you wanted to hear?

I still believe in Jesus.
