Be professional. Dress well, carry yourself with confidence and use appropriate language. Do not swear or use slang and make sure you look presentable all the time.
Be upfront with your customers. Do not do anything deceitful or dishonest. Customers may not realize that you fooled them right away, but over the years as they drive a vehicle that is not what they wanted they will know you cared more about making a sale than filling their needs. There is no way that you can earn repeat business from that sale. And to make things worse, they may tell people not to go to your dealership.
Do not make things up. It is not possible to know everything about a vehicle. Make sure that you do not just make up information. That reeks of someone who does not care about the customer and just hopes to make a sale. Once the customer finds out you are just blowing smoke up their derrière and you will not earn repeat business from them.
Treat your customers as friends. Customers naturally become agitated and upset during negotiations. Remember that this is a stressful experience for them. Work to calm them down, but do not patronize them. If they become aggressive with you, stand your ground and do not allow them to be disrespectful or rude. If they know that you are there to help them through this process, you can earn repeat business from them.

Gotta love all the answers from know-it-all buyers who have never sold cars a day in their life! Try sales training, like Joeverde.com, to start with. Next don't take the advice of anyone who hasn't actually sold cars in the last ten years. Lastly, treat the customer as you would want to be treated.
NOTE: When a salesman says he needs to check with his manager, it isn't so that he can fit in another smoke break and make you sweat a little more, it's usually because managers make the hard decisions, or all of the decisions, depending upon the dealership.

Biggest turn off is when the sales rep starts telling complete lies, or when they have to go check with manager. This is biggest turn off. My suggestion is be honest and up front. Dealers know the bottom line they can sell the car for, they don't need to go back to their managers. This is just the technique they use. I remember trying to purchase my vehicle. The guy said he needs to check with his manager, goes away. In the meantime, I needed to use the restroom, I go towards the restroom and what do I see? my salesperson smoking outside and no manager near him. So, be honest, up-front, know your product, and please, let your customers drive the car before starting to talk about price. In fact, that would be my very first thing. Customer walks in, greet him/her, take them for a test drive on a vehicle of his choice. I've heard that it is easier to negotiate with people who really enjoyed vehicles they test drove. Good luck

He might need to look first the clients and see how they act.
Because you can notice when someone really wants to buy a car.
He needs to be more reliable, maybe tried to be more in touch with the clients, make jokes but he needs to recognize if he cans make jokes with them. Watching is the key

My boyfriend tries to pull over the same crap. What you really need to do is call him out about it. Your mind will never be at ease until you do so you should really just bite the bullet now and ask, rather than when you’re at the altar someday…

Tell her to be friendly but not flirty. Bull **** is a start but know your customers body language. And most important smile and remember your customers names.
