I agree pugs have defects.I don't mind the snoring, it's really funny, and cleaning the wrinkles. But most of the time, our pug is layed back back and loves attention. The snoring isn't very loud.My dog loves walks and when we take her to a beach and let her run,she loves it.

I had 2 shepherds who I loved dearly, had to put them down at 12 and 14 years of age. During the time I had the shepherds my sister who lives in CA, I live in NY was always talking about her pugs. At the time I told her I thought they were ugly, didn't care for them, etc. But then again I was never around one for any length of time.

I went to visit her. Boy, oh, boy. What a delight these pugs were. Comical, entertaining, loveable, sweet, just little cuddle bugs. I fell in love.

After we put the shepherds down I knew what I wanted -- a pug. No doubt about it. My husband was adamantly against it. I did the begging thing, that didn't work, so I did the silent treatment for 2 weeks. He gave in.

I got my very sweet pug. What a joy he is, what a delight, what a love!

My husband tried to ignore him at first because he didn't want a pug. Now he is my husband's "little boy". He worries about him, he is the first to suggest at any little ailment to take him to the vet. If my husband even suspects anyone hurt his little feelings, my husband springs into action. He is like most people when they get a pug, he is "pugged". I have never seen my husband so caring and loving to any other dog we have had.

I LOVE the snoring. I love the snorting. I love my pug.

Pugs do have issues. Mine have none. Make sure if you want one you get one from a responsible breeder. A breeder that is breeding for the betterment of the breed. My poor sister paid out over $10,000. in vet bills because she got hers from BYB's.

Pugs rule! Pugs are the best!!!!!!

I would have to say I dislike pugs. I'm not particularly fond of any of the brachycephalic breeds because in too many cases this defect is taken to such extremes that it creates many, often severe, health problems. I can't stand a dog that snuffs and snorts and seems short of breath just standing there. And I have enough snoring to deal with between me and my husband...I don't really want a dog that snores as loudly as I do (although at least the dog wouldn't shout in his sleep like my hubby). They are also highly prone to allergies, heart disease, eye problems, and skin infections.

In their defense, I do have to admit that they usually have GREAT personalities! Almost every pug I've ever met has been sweet as sugar and super friendly (even if they usually aren't the most cooperative dogs I've worked with).

I'm not terribly fond of most small dog breeds, and as a rule, I tend to not be drawn to the brachycephalic (pushed in noses) breeds. For some odd reason, however, I find pugs to be charming, and if I were to get a toy sized dog, it would most likely be a pug.

I think they have great little personalities but I don't like their pushed in noses. And this is coming from someone who has grown up with Bostons, so it's nothing personal. But there are too many health concerns. They are bred to extremes and it is sad to see these sweet guys get out of breath so quickly, especially in hot weather. Not to mention the teeth problems that come about from having to fit 42 teeth into their tiny mouths.

It is for this reason that if I ever get another Boston Terrier I plan on rescuing one that has a longer nose. My current Boston has a very non-typey nose. Unlike our other two with very short muzzles, she doesn't snort, doesn't snore, can handle hot weather better, and has more stamina playing with my big dogs.

Honestly, I do not like Pugs. I do not like the snorting, the farting, or the pushed in face.
I am not fond of any of the breeds that you can see the "back passage" of when they are walking away from you.

Geez, forgot about the bug eyes!!!!

I think pugs are hard to warm up to. They remind me of pigs with the snorting and even how they look. But, I have a friend with a snorty, farty, bug eyed pug and this dog is the apple of her eye... so to each his own!

They are very loving and faithful, don't shed much and are small enough to have in an appt and sturdy enouth to take a likken and keep on ticken,
If they have any flaw it is they do not live as long as some breeds.
