One type of profanity is the misuse of the sacred.

This category includes
+ Using God's Name in vain
+ Damning people and things to hell
+ Reviling heaven
+ Blaspheming

The Commandment, "Thou shalt not use the name of the Lord thy God in vain," prohibits any such misuse.

"Let not your mouth form the habit of swearing, or becoming too familiar with the Holy Name. ... one who swears continually by the Holy Name will not remain free from sin." (Sirach 23:9).

+ Bad Words +

Profanity is wrong even when it does not involve the name of God.

God gave humans the gift of language. Language should build relationships with others, and enable people to share their lives intimately with each other.

We also hear people use four letter words like f*** to speak profanely about goodness of human sexuality and the holiness of marital love.

Such language is not only negative, vulgar, impolite and offensive, but also debases the dignity of each human being.

Moreover, this language reveals not only a person’s bad attitude and lack of respect for others, but also his own immaturity and insecurity in dealing with others. In using these words, the person builds barriers rather than bridges with another person.

Take for instance the word Hell.

First, no one should make light of Hell, that place of eternal damnation.

Yet, people use the word is so many ways today:
+ In anger, “Go to Hell!”
+ In surprise, “What the Hell!”
+ In greeting, “How the hell are you?”
+ In inquiry, “What the hell are you doing here? Or, “What the hell are you doing?”

Not only are do these sayings use poor English; they show a lack of respect for what Hell is.

With love in Christ.

Well, it sounds to me like your trying to be the best Christian you can be. And I get on that tread mill from time to time, However I realize after awhile that I am trying to be self righteous and only God can change me. We can try all we want which is being proud and God resists the proud or you can turn it over to God and He will give Grace to the humble.
All the faults that are pointed out in the Bible are basically there to show us exactly how desperate we need a Savior. I do not mean that we should purposely live in sin but do not condemn yourself because God has not perfected you yet.
Take care and may God bless you Spiritually.

1Co:1:26: For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
1Co:1:27: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
1Co:1:28: And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
1Co:1:29: That no flesh should glory in his presence.

It's not necessarily wrong to swear and cuss. As a Christian you are called by God to "not take His name in vain." Correct that He knows what is in your head and what is in your heart. Out of the essence of the heart, the mouth speaks. If you have hatred for someone - that starts in your heart. You contemplate it in your head (thinking) and then it produces the true sin by coming out of your mouth. God knows the whole thing started in your heart, so from His perspective, you started the sin in your heart. See Matt 5:28 - "...but I say to you, that everyone that looks on a woman to lust for her has committed adultery with her already in his heart." (NASB)
You have to get your heart right.
As for swearing and cussing, I'm sure you have heard it said that people that swear are not smart enough to know another word to use. Who do you want to be?

All the Wholly Babble says on this topic, is "thou shalt not take the name of the lord thy god in vain"...for what that's worth. (the first 4 of the so-called 10 commandments basically restate the same thing in different ways....so maybe it should be the 6 commandments? Maybe then that judge who wanted to put them in his courthouse a few years back would have had an easier time remembering them...he couldnt' name all ten when asked to by reporters, if you recall)

Swear words are a cultural thing, and change over time. One of the worst swear words in Quebec is "tabernacle"....which just means church.
Most swear words relate to perfectly natural bodily functions such as urination, defecation and procreation.

They are just words....repeat them often enough and they lose their meaning and power to offend.

The Bible puts as much importance on our thought lives as on our actions because our actions come from what we think. We are told to renew our minds (Romans 12:2; Ephesians 4:23), to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5) and to think about things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8).
It is a process though and God doesn't expect you to get it all together in one day. Spend time in his word and ask him to renew your mind.

Cursing is relatively a sin in accordance to the inspired Scriptures, no remember what a society says or accepts. The inspired apostle Paul tells us to “enable no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, yet that it relatively is powerful to using edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers” (Ephesians 4:29). we are back warned by employing Paul to “placed off all those; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth” (Colossians 3:8). interior the Greek language, the word, “filthy communication” ability foul conversing, low and obscene speech. In his letter, James announces that cursing shouldn't come out of our mouth (James 3:10). He admonishes us further in James 4:11, no longer lots as to chat evil of yet another brother. For an occasion, Peter certain the Lord that he could “in no way fall away” from following him (Matthew 26:33 – ESV). yet, in basic terms some short hours later, this comparable apostle “denied with an oath” that he even knew Jesus (Matthew 26:seventy two). The inspired checklist says that he even began to “curse and to swear”, reinforcing his denials of Jesus (Matthew 26:seventy 4). If the wonderful of adult adult males have been accountable of occasional lapses relating to cursing and swearing, we would desire to be continuously on shield that we don't sin much greater grievously. In Colossians 4:6, the apostle Paul tells us to, “enable your speech be alway with grace, pro with salt, that ye could be responsive to how ye would desire to respond to each guy.” Our speech could incorporate healthful, organic, form, and helpful words. words that inspire and develop a man or woman, rather of tearing them down (Proverbs sixteen:23; Proverbs 25:11; cf. a million Thessalonians 4:13-18; a million Thessalonians 5:8-11).

It is wrong to dwell or purposely use foul language in your head. We are called to "bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ" 2Cor 10:5. We can't fully control our thoughts, we're sinful human beings, but we can take every thought 'captive' which means we should stop, compare the thought to what we know is right, and then reject it out of our minds if it doesn't match with what is good. It is wrong to purposely use foul languages in our internal dialogues.
