Praziquantel is the dewormer for tapeworms and it is over the counter (non-prescription).

There is no 'home remedy' for tapeworms.

first, get rid of the fleas, tapeworms come from ingesting fleas and eggs as the pet grooms. you can add garlic to the diet. you can also shred raw carrots and beets and mix it with hamburger meat or ground turkey. the carrots and beets cause the worms to loosen from the intestinal wall. worms cannot tolerate a protein rich diet, so feeding raw foods like chicken, turkey etc. with some veggies(you might have to make a puree for the cat to eat them. it will take a little longer than traditional deworming, but your cat will be healthier in the long run.

Get the dewormer from the vet. Get rid of the fleas, keep it on the monthly preventative. I personally would not feed raw chicken or turkey to my pets, there has been a higher incidence of bacterial contaminations in the chicken and beef as of late. I would not want to give Salmonella Enteritidis to my cat or dog.

No. Either go to the vet and get meds, go to feed store or supply store that sells TRADEWINDS tablets that are the same as Droncit from the vet. Treat for fleas too.
