we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.Winston Churchill.............. I personally salute those that have fought for our freedom past and present. Thankyou.

I will be honoring our VETS...the live ones in particular. I have a Christian 'warrior brother' (as he calls me) and as soon as I see him, I will render him a salute and thank HIM for HIS service to our country. He's a retired U.S. combat Marine Lieutenant.
Monday, yes MONDAY, Virginia Beach will be having a Veterans' Day parade and as a member of the Patriot Guard, I will be riding in it. Unfortunately, our non-thinking school board has seen fit not to let the kids out of school on this FEDERAL HOLIDAY, so the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will not be marching with us that day to honor our vets. To cover their butts, the school board promised there'd be no school NEXT year.
I do my best to give honor to vets EVERY day when I can. I met a WW2 vet as I was leaving the shoe repair Friday. I rendered a salute to him and shook his hand and said, "Thank you for serving our country and for your sacrifices." With wet eyes he looked at me and said, "We're not through, yet."
Whenever we can, my wife and I will pay for the meal of a young serviceman and his family or a single service person. Being in the east coast U.S. Navy town, it's easy to spot military folks. Even easier when a single military guy/gal is in uniform. It's fun to watch them look around trying to figure out who paid when they go to the cash register and are told their meal was paid for already. I've only been busted once.

Winston Churchil:

"I have, myself, full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are being made, we shall prove ourselves once again able to defend our Island home, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone. At any rate, that is what we are going to try to do. That is the resolve of His Majesty's Government-every man of them. That is the will of Parliament and the nation. The British Empire and the French Republic, linked together in their cause and in their need, will defend to the death their native soil, aiding each other like good comrades to the utmost of their strength. Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail.

We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old."

Remembering ALL From WW1 to the Present Day, who made the ultimate sacrifice for the Free World.

This is not a dig in anyway ok.
9/11 was an atrocious event which was done by a coward with no morals and yes i will be honouring those who died valiantly saving opeople they did not know, the firemen, rescuers etc.
However as justified as the media coverage was in the same day 4500 people died in the same day in pointless wars in countries like burkina faso, people fighting for a rightful freedom they should have.
so let me ask, where is the remembrance for people such as them?

Yes of course, that a man/woman had to face possible death to defend my country is worthy of the greatest respect. Some see this (strangely!) as glorifying war, for me that is so far from the truth. It is a simple act of recognition for the sacrifices made by everyone during that time. From the mothers who gave sons, the wives who gave husbands, the children who gave fathers. The men and women who gave their lives. The men and women who worked tirelessly for the war effort, the citizens who suffered deprivation and took it in their stride. All are heroes in my opinion. that is what I shall be giving thanks for and remembering tomorrow .I give thanks to every single one of them.

Yes as I always do in my, modest way, it is strange though one of the most moving statements is said many times during the remembrance days, it is this "Lest Forget" people with authority who can do something, to make a certainty.
