As domesticated animals go, cats are the new kids on the block. They have only been considered domestic animals for about 4000 years. That means they are still wild to a degree. Wild cats will groom each other, that's the licking portion of your inquiry. The biting part involves their habits of playing as the predators they are. They will bite, grab at each other and wrestle. All that behavior is practice for securing food in the wild. As long as they keep their claws sheathed and don't draw blood with their biting their behavior is normal and no one is getting hurt.

I hope that helps you understand what's going on.

Those are just 'love bites' ... the licks are just 'cleaning' ... your cats are FINE and they love each other or they would sleep together or even NEAR each other. I know that the biting may 'look weird' but wild cats actually 'bite' each other to establish 'dominance' in the pride. Wolves do the same thing, biting the 'nose and mouth' and so do dogs who are domesticated. It's a perfectly NORMAL behavior.

My mother has 8 cats and 1 dog...they all sleep together, and lick each other. They are very clean animals, so they like to groom each other and themselves.
They also fight as a part of playing and reminding each other that it's a dangerous world, so it kinda keeps them sharp, and helps them to identify friend or foe.
Cat fights are more than weird, and they like to keep trophies of their conquer. Watching them in their community can be a very rewarding experience.
Don't worry too much, they are not trying to harm each other.

Cats biting each other is a form of playing. Just something a cat does. They do not bite hard just a playful nip. If you have a kitten you will notice that they will sometimes playfully nip you. It never hurts just they are having fun.

They're just playing silly! I have lots of cats and I love my kitties. They just love to play around, even if they are resting. It usually depends on their age, but some cats remain playful for their entire lives. Sometimes they'll playfully bite you if you rub their tummies too!

The licking is them grooming each other. The biting is either them playing, or one of them got momentarily mad at the other (my cats did that all the time).

Most of the time it's a dominance/playing thing. They do it to assert dominance over each other and to try and get the other cat to play. Don't worry my cats do that too.

There being affectionate, and loving each other. Then one breaks up it with a friendly nip as if he/she wants to play instead. It also shows whos dominate.

Lots of times cats play like that. if it looks like they get injured when they're doing that you should go to a proffesional or a vet.
