Cats are so individual that it's hard to predict whether yours will get carsick or not. When I moved from Missouri to Kansas, my ex-husband and I had six cats in carriers piled in our car. Each carrier had a litter box made out of a shoebox lid with litter and a small bowl of water. We stopped several times during this 10 hour drive to walk them on leashes and let them stretch their legs in the grass, gave them some cooked hamburger and they all made the trip with no problem.
It might be best if you made a small test run with kitty in the car to see if it got carsick. Your vet has medication in case this is so.
It's really not safe to let a cat roam loose in the car while driving. They can wedge themselves under the accelerator or brake pedals and cause an accident.

I would get a cat carrier and you should be fine. I would stop for a break and crazy as it sounds...get a litter box and let him/her out of the carrier to walk around the car. Have the litter box in the floor board along with some food and water in the other side. Id take about a 1/2 hour break. Of course it will want to snoop around the car first. Good luck

The kitty won't be happy about it. But if you do it right, the cat can indeed be carried in a car that long. Though you might want to stop somewhere for a potty break.
You will want a pet carrier. And you might want to put some old rags or towels in it for padding. Make sure to not feed or water the cat too close to time for the ride.

I moved to Florida from Ohio last year and had my cat with me. She loves riding in the car as long as she can move around. If I have her in the carrier, even for a 5min drive to the vet, she'll pee in it. When I drove from Ohio, I let her walk around the car and she didn't pee anywhere except the disposable little box I had on the floor on the passenger side. When I would stop at a rest area, people would stop to talk to me just because she was there. I love my princess. By the way, her name is Bijoux

I used to travel from Indiana to PA with my cat Peanut about 9 hours and he was always fine. Never even crated him. He'd curl up under the passenger seat and growling when I went to get him out, but he never caused any problems or got sick. I only had trouble with him once it was the first time and he attempted to curl up on the steering wheel in my lap, but that was it.

Every cat is different.
Some will get a kick out of it, and have fun and be crazy.
Some will be relaxed.
Some get car sick.
Just like humans
