Ok, you're out partying and you start out sober. Put the above words in the correct order of their occurence, with "passed out" being the last.

Thanks!

I'm asking because my husband and I are having a debate about it. I know its ridiculous but if you could humor us, your opinions will help determine who's right. thanks

Ok..You start out the evening all sober then you start to have a drink or two and start catching a buzz. You're having a good time drink another drink or two and now your starting to get tipsy. Your doing alot of laughing everybody is funny. You decide that its time to start doing a shot here and there because even though your drinking at a pretty good pace it just doesn't seem like your feeling much so you have a few more drinks and a few more shots now you're starting to weave back and forth ( a little unsteady on your feet ) For some reason every time you move or turn around either somebody is in your way or the wall is there. Who knows why the wall keeps following you. But any way you are having a real good time talking real loud and repeating yourself over and over again ( obviously you are DRUNK ) Then suddenly you are not feeling so well ( boy those couple of drinks I had caught up with me real quick) the room is spinning you think it is time that your head hits the pillow or where ever it might find to rest. Now you are officially passed out. Now don't forget the wicked hangover that comes tomorrow........... Sober, Buzz, Tipsy, Drunk, Passed out

Well, the big question seems to be whether you get buzzed before you get tipsy or tipsy before you get buzzed. We have to consider what's causing these things to happen.

When I'm drinking, I'm tipsy (a little giggly, silly, and unsteady) before I'm buzzed (seeing things through a haze while my ears are hearing a constant background buzz).

With other mind alterning materials, you could make a case that you get buzzed before tipsy, but in these cases, tipsy has a different meaning for me. Rather than being silly and giggly, tipsy could be understood as "tipping over" or tripping.

So:
sober, tipsy, buzzed, drunk, passed out
