THe Word trinity isn't in the Bible- but the relationship it explains is- It is seen in the word "El"
The singular form of Elohim is El. It has the idea of strength, power, and might. El is used in the Old Testament of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
God The Father is El.
And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; now he was a priest of God [El} Most High (Genesis 14:18).
The Son is El.
Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel (El) (Isaiah 7:14).
This verse was cited by Matthew to refer to Jesus. The angel of the Lord said to Joseph.
She will bear a Son; and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call his name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us”

The Holy Spirit is called El.
The Spirit of God [El} has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life (Job 33:4).
So while the word trinity is new the relationship it explains has existed since God gave us His Word through the prophets.

If you say you have never seen the word "El" in the Bible it is because you have not looked up the word meanings in the original languages.

For those who don't understand- If you look up the words in Hebrew- Jesus, God the Father and the Spirit are usually reffered to as one word- the same word in Hebrew- "El"

Lacey- you are so close to understanding!!! Yes Elohim is plural and it's singular is El- and that what the word trinity explins- 3 in one. El talks about each as God and Elohim as the tree combined as GOd. Three individuals as one entire God. All 3 fully God! To worship only one as God

to worship only one as GOd is to deny the diety of the other 2!

and yet we (christians) don't worship them as separate- we worship them as one!

Worshipping them as separate would be worshipping plural Gods- so worship the three in 1!

At their resent "General Conference" this is what one of their church leaders had to say about the Trinity:
"Our first and foremost article of faith in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is “We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.”2 We believe these three divine persons constituting a single Godhead are united in purpose, in manner, in testimony, in mission. We believe Them to be filled with the same godly sense of mercy and love, justice and grace, patience, forgiveness, and redemption. I think it is accurate to say we believe They are one in every significant and eternal aspect imaginable except believing Them to be three persons combined in one substance, a Trinitarian notion never set forth in the scriptures because it is not true." Jeffery R. Holland, Nov 2007, Ensign
Take a look at what he said at the end, no they don't believe in the Trinity.

Not quite. We believe that they are one God in three separate entities, two of which have bodies, the third is spirit. (Come on, you can't argue that at least one has a body). They are one God in purpose. So I suppose that isn't too far off, but the way you're phrasing it is sort of confusing.
[Edit] Ah, I see. Well, it's consistent with our beliefs, but it's still a bit off. Calling the Father the Son and either the Holy Ghost doesn't diminish their divinity, so it doesn't really matter if they have the same name. You still need to remember though that Elohim is plural, so something in there has to be plural.

I can call The Father God, The Son God, and The Holy Spirit God. They are God but are three personages.
The Nicean creed which you won't talk about is where traditional christianity say they are three personages that are one in substance and essence.
That is where the trinity comes in.
Edit Belzebot got it right with the trinity and the Nicean Creed.
The bible talks about the Godhead....
As for Isaiah 7:14 it doesn't say El.
It means God is with us.
Jews never thought the messiah was God.

We believe in God the Father, Jesus - who is God the son, our Creator and Saviour, and the Holy Ghost.
They are separate beings, as proved at Jesus's baptism - Jesus was in the water, God the Father's voice declared "Behold my Son in whom I am well pleased" and the Holy Ghost who descended in the form of a dove - but they are one in purpose and unity.

If you are trying to show through the use of Hebrew that Jesus is divine, I agree. Jesus is divine. He is the son of God. He is a member of the Godhead. He is not the same being as His Father. He is not the same being as the Holy Ghost.

You worship them as one----what?
WHAT is God? Is God a person, or a title, or what?
Is God three persons in one person in three persons?
Is Jesus His own Father? When Jesus was in Gethsemane, was He praying to Himself?
I guess what I'm trying to say, your explanation was clear as mud. Sorry.
