It depends on how much you make and if someone else (your parents) can claim you. Federally speaking, if no one can claim you, and you make less than $8450, then you don't need to file, unless the feds withheld monies from you, other than the required Social Security and Medicare.

I think your question is vague. If you are working you are already paying taxes it is being docked from your check. If you want to know if you will you have to pay taxes back to the government depends on how much you earned and if you are being claimed by your parents. Typical student wages are not enough to owe the government you will probably receive money back but it all depends on how much you earned. I dont know your details but go to this website and it will calculate your taxes http://www.hrblock.com/taxes/tax_calculators/index.html
If you are self employed that is a whole other issue. www.irs.gov is another good resource

If you are earning wages, you will have to pay social security and medicare taxes. Income tax liability is based on your taxable income. Student status is irrelevant.

you live in Wisconsin, of course you have to pay taxes...a LOT of them.

Why should students not have to pay? Are they somehow above the tax? Members of the military, active duty, still have to pay local Wisconsin taxes, even if they're overseas (and are students, taking college courses).

If you have income enough to be required to file, yes. Being a student won't change that.

You have to pay them out of your paycheck but you can file for a return. Make sure your parents are not claiming you first though.
