Why must you put race into this? Although the majority my family came to America from Ireland, and a castle in Scotland, one of my great-great grandfathers was 100% Cherokee. That is not the issue, America is built on immigration, but then laws came into affect, which means laws should not be broken, meaning illegals do not belong here.

No one is bashing legal immigration, nor Hispanics in general. It is those illegals, and some legals who have no respect for America, and do not make this their home, their pride. So while you put race into this, as if you have a huge chip on your shoulder, all we are out to do, and about, is having pride for our home, and our children's home. No shame in that.

It wasn't the USA then. It was Mexico. They don't seem to want to go there now. Why? Because the US is different.

My people came in the 1600s (earliest) and in the 1860s (latest). Those who were Mexicans in 1848 when the US got its land in much the same way Mexico got it to begin with, are now Americans, just as I am.

I can't express an 'opinion' unless I know what your question is. All those who came and stayed legally belong here. Is that the issue?

Still wondering about the issue. But look at it this way, we got land that was French in Louisiana - that doesn't mean all French who never lived here can come without immigrating. We got land from Russia. The Russians get no special privilege in immigration either. And as for the British where we got most of our land....if anything they get less slots than anyone. I really am wondering where you are going with this....

I am sure some lines stretch back to 1492 with the arrival of Columbus or 1620 with the Pilgrims arrival or even as far back as the Native Americans who's origins are somewhat unknown but well before 1848, whats your point? Legal immigrants are welcomed, regardless of their "ethnicity or national country of origin" and citizens are... well citizens.

Actually, most Latino-Americans didn't come from anywhere else, they were born here.

I was born here. We are fellow native-born Americans. Where your parents or great-great-grandparents came from doesn't matter.

If you're not a citizen, how you entered the country, and whether you're still a legal resident matters. Even when you entered doesn't matter, just whether it's legal for you to stay.

Is that really so difficult, or, is that you know you're in the wrong, and you're blowing smoke in the desperate hope that people are stupid and racist enough to think that they should judge people by thier ancestry, not by thier own actions?

I am of Norwegian ancestry. I am on the path to citizenship and am a legal resident. Um.....Leif Erickson came to the North American continent in 1001 AD . That is way before 1848!
Here Leif had some shelters built. But, the land here was so rich that he decided to build at least one large house for the winter and hence established residency. After the houses were built, Leif sent out an exploration group to explore the land. But I digress. Native Americans came before him and his merry band of Vikings. I am thinking they all came here legally - at least at that time. LOL

You don't see Norwegians "hopping the border" illegally. No - not in a million years! That is because they enjoy the highest living standard in the world. And they take care of their own.

And no I disagree heartily with Triteamd. This is NOT driven by fear, racism and xenophobia. This is about a country or countries who DO NOT seem to take care of their own - like Mexico. I call BS on that!

So exactly WHAT IS YOUR point?

Whatever, after the Mexican-American war? Mexicans had a option to stay in the new territory aka "The Southwest" now under USA rule and became US citizen or Go over the new border into Mexico and remain Mexicans.

I'm American from Florida, USA

So....a few legal people doesn't constitute permission for an entire country to come and go at will, illegally, at any time throughout history. in spite of rules and laws.

I don't know much about Mexico.....but what would you do if all of a sudden Spain or Africa decided to dump millions of people on your shores because somewhere in their history they found they were first to set foot on your soil....somewhere.....and now claim rights to it? People were settling basicly empty land masses back then with much fewer people. That's NOT happening now.

I have a little bit of everything in me. According to your logic I should be free to go anyplace in the world I want to, without question, or rule of law, because somewhere, someone, in my multitude of nationalities got somewhere first. But I can't.....those countries have rules and laws too.

So what do have to say about that?

Maybe... But what about the American Indian? They were here before the white man, the mexican, the black man, green man, and the blue man... What do YOU think about that!!!!????
And ...............
After all of this, the land that is now occupied by the United States was fought and won in a WAR.... If Mexicans, the Spanish , the American Indian really wanted it they would have fought Harder!!!!!!!! Didn't happen now did it??!!!!

My ethnicity has nothing do with this, for all YOU know it is the same as yours, Mexican, African, Chinese, Japinese, French, Irish, British, OR Even a MONKEY!!!

Do some homework before you speak..........
