I don't know much about the Richardson Animal Shelter, but at the Dumb Friends League animal shelter in Denver, the price of an animal depends on its age. For animals under 6 months, it is $120. For animals 6 months -1 year it is $100. For 1 year - 5 years it is $85, and for animals over the age of 5 years, they are $55. The reason the animals are somewhat (but not really) expensive is because most shelters provide nuetering/spaying, microchip installation, a free vet visit, and all shots and vaccinations, a pet carrier, and a collar are included in the price. Always adopt, and never buy an animal. Good luck with your new kitty!

Call them and ask.

Keep in mind the adoption fee is just a very very small part of the first years expenses of having a kitten. Can you afford it?

For an adoption, I wouldn't pay more than 30 dollars.
