I figured 2 1/2 cups for 6 dozen.

2 1/2 cups is correct. How to determine: Dividing 1 2/3 (1.667) cups by 4 = 0.4168 cups per dozen multiply by 6 gives you 2.501 cups.

If you want it EXACTLY, it's 2 and 2/9ths cups.
