It is ok to miss thee rehearsal but all weddings are of different lengths, reassure him things are going to be ok, you both have whipped yourselves into a frenzy for nothing. enjoy the day.

The length of the ceremony depends on what type it is. Mine was only about 15 minutes... although it felt like forever. But in the elaborate religious ceremonies I've had to sit in a church for over an hour.

I've never heard of multiple rehearsals... usually there's just one a day or so before the wedding.

We had a short service of less the 20 minutes. The dinner and reception was about 6 hours. It depends alot on the atteendees. If people really like to dance and are party animals, they may try to stretch the party as long as possible.

Wedding receptions are usually from after the nuptials
at the church! which generally is by 6 pm and can go
into the wee hours of the morning, at a hall or club venue.
If it's a morning wedding then it's until "Whenever". I think!

I don't know why he can't ask his son how long the ceremony is, and what will be expected of him? Rehearsals are usually no more than two days before the wedding, so they probably haven't had it yet (unless the wedding is today).
