I cleaned the engine of my '99 Altima, causing the spark plug recesses to fill with water, this made the engine misfire untill I dryed the plugs, and it runs great now. However I have a service engine soon light and can't seem to reset it,does anyone know how I can reset it without having to pay a mechanic? I have turned the switch on and off 10 times, rapidly which worked on other cars but not on this one.
Any help would be appriciated. Thanks, YAHOO users.

unhook your battery cable for about 5 minutes that will reset it and make it go off

Hi.You can go to the auto parts store and purchase an ODB diagnostic tool.It plugs in under the hood and will give you a code which you look up and it will tell you what the problem is and I am pretty sure that you can turn off servive engine lights.Check at the auto parts store to make sure.I think you can buy them for around $30 and they are nice to have.Good luck and I hope this helps.

About 30 drive cycles and the light will turn off if it does not see misfires. OBD1 systems nissan uses have to be cleared at the dealership.
