it's different everywhere. 13 where I live. I think you have to use your best judgment. You should call the Human Resources Department in your county to find out the legal age for where you live.

It depends on where you live. Generally I believe that by age 9 a child can be left alone for a couple hours, and by 12 they can be left alone for an adult's work day, then at 16 they can pretty much be left alone like an adult.

Check with your city/county, though, it varies.

I believe the Law states that a child has to be at least 12 yrs of age before they are allowed to stay alone. (at least it's like that in my state)

BUT age doesn't matter....if your child isn't mature enough to not burn down the house or gets scared easily...then you should wait until they are more mature.

Contact your local police dept. since they will be the ones arresting you for child endangerment if your child is too young or immature.

it depends on what state you live in in VA and FL the legal age is 11 i am not sure about other states, but just because your child is the legal age does not mean that they are ready to be home alone each child is different

i was home alone for the first time at 9 years old. i was home alone with my younger sister for the first time when i was 11 and she was 9. it depends on how trustworthy your parents think the child is and how responsible and mature the child is.
