Because his goodness was so threatening to people & it usually is the case that if people don't know how to deal with something unfamiliar, they usually are against that person. And Jesus was a "REALY" different person. He was "too good" of a person. And it showed everybody up who came in to contact with him. It was like you either really loved him or you really hated him enough to want him dead. It's sad that humans can be so cruel! It's still is like that today.

Jewish High Priests were misusing the Laws of Torah. They were giving favorable religious decrees to who could pay them more. Their decrees for rich and poor were different.

Jesus was constantly ridiculing Jewish priests calling them
Hypocrites and liars. If Priests accept Moses, they would loose their own importance and the higher positions in the society that gave them higher income as well. They were indirect rulers and made the decisions as to who amongst Jews should be punished and who should be spared. They only could recommend the punishment to Roman Governor but could not give punishment themselves. Priest rs wanted to get rid of Jesus because if they accept Jesus as Prophet, they loose their own positions because then their positions would be null and void when Jesus would give a different judgment. It could be embarrassing for them too in their society. For were the reasons they had many Prophets before Jesus also got ton killed.

My information is all based on Quran. God has written in Quran what I have mentioned above. Whether you agree with me or not that is up to you off course.

One reason is because Jesus came with the message of love, hope & forgiveness. The "religious sect" at the time felt their power over the people threatened by His message. They considered themselves to be "law-abiding" citizens and used the Law to keep people enslaved to it. Jesus came to set people free.

Another reason is because people could not accept that Jesus was the One whom the prophets spoke about. They were looking for a "King" Messiah, someone who would overturn the Romans rule over them. Sadly, many rejected Him because they could not accept that He must first suffer and die for their sins before He would return as the KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS one day.

I think the authorities wanted him dead because he was perceived as an insurgent. He caused a riot in the temple when he "turned the tables."

A lot of other people just didn't care.

Many (Jews) thought He was the false Messiah. The high priest called what He said blasphemy. Then crowd psychology kicked in and they followed. But after the resurrection, many believed, and many still do.

Because they knew, in their hearts, that he was telling the truth, and they didn't like that he was rocking the boat. He was a revolutionary, they knew it, and they thought he had to be stopped. Even the soldiers, after Christ was dead, said "What have I done?"

Societies have a horrible habit of wanting to "kill off" anything and anyone that/who goes against the "norm".
