Do officers in the US Military ever carry a LMG? Are they allowed to or is that only for Enlisted Squad Heavy Gunners?

What about in the SEALs, Rangers, or Army SF? Will officers ever carry a LMG?

It would be a waste for an officer to carry a LMG. Officers jobs are to direct and spend more time on the radio then firing. Officers worry about the fires of 3-4 LMGs, not just the weapon in thier hand.

A 2LT incharge of 40 soldiers with 40 weapons. The lowest ranked officer. In addition, they look at how those troops are moving and when to direct indirect fires at something, so they really don't have time for a LMG.

US Army officers should not be armed with anything at all.The command they most often give is,"take over sergeant",spoken as they retreat at high speed.
