I'm a photography student (degree) and im also interested in photographing bands at gigs. My question is Where can i put my work on the internet so others can see it, hopefully attracting some attention towards my work?

I would most definatly be watermarking my work. I get annoyed when friends take my photographs let alone strangers.
I don't even do nude photography - not going to start either.

I like Modest's suggestion about developing your own site and his reasoning is good. The only thing is, you will then have to learn about creating good tags or whatever so that people find your site with a search engine.

If you use Flickr, for instance, you can count on at least SOME random traffic finding you. People go there and search for images of bands and stuff. You can hope for some hits and put a link to your site under each image.

On Flickr, you can also make it so that nobody can download your images. If you set your download prefence to "Only you" in "Privacy and Permissions" and someone tries to right-click and save, they will get a tiny little blank square instead of your image. They could always do a screen capture and print it, so you would want to stick to 72 ppi and some small size like VGA or smaller so it would not be of much use to them.

Create a website. It doesn't have to be anything intricate. Just place your photos up there and a little information about yourself. Share it with your friends and then they'll pass it on. Also, on yahoo answers, many people go through questions and if you list your site I'm sure you'll get plenty of views. Hope to see the photographs soon =]. I personally also love photography but I'm still young and only take pictures with digital cameras :p

If you are serious about pursuing photography as a profession, I would suggest you should create your own site. No public site is going to be able to showcase your work as well you can. With your own site you have complete control over how it is presented. Not to mention the fact that, because photography is such a visual medium, if gives you an additional opportunity to create a good first impression by having a very cool looking web site. See the link below for a company that appears to specialize in helping folks such as yourself set up web sites for displaying your work.

Why not start your own web site. I cannot believe that a student does not have the ability to build a web site. Young people these days can do anything digital, and even if you can't some friend must be able to. Swap 'em A Web Site for pix.

There are many sites, but i think it is important to watermark your work. I would be concerned about someone stealing your work. I think a lot of the photo programs have this capability. Best wishes

Try looking at the red bubble site. Its free to join, and it is a site that is more than just a 'look at my holiday snaps' site.
You can ask for advice, get tips, and get to know people all round the world.
Check out my profile, and look around the site to give you an idea. Any problems or questions, email me. Enjoy.

Well there are many websites and opportunities to post your work online. You can try imageshack, myspace, deviantart where you can also sell your work, piczo, flicker, or you can try to open up your own forum where you can post your images, create session topics, and discuss important issues ranging from whatever you'd like to discuss. Good luck!

I would suggest that you paste it on your blog page, or on your socal networking profile. That way, whoever views your profile sees it giving it some well deserved exposure. You could also ask anyone who sees it on your profile to tell other people to check it out. Bon chance!
