It was a very hard lesson to learn, but I have found that if I stay in God's word, that I can be an over-comer. Nothing shakes me up anymore.
"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
Philippians 2:5, Christians are told, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus." In Philippians 4:8, Christians are told to think on "things" that are "true", "noble", "just", "pure", "lovely", "of good report", and "praiseworthy" In Colossians 3:2, Christians are told to "Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth."

I try to keep an attitude of being "in the world" not "of the world", so I guess that helps me detach and not worry about worldly things, especially those that are beyond my control.
However, I'm not one of those Christians who's just ready to "circle the wagons" and give up on mankind--I try to find ways to make a difference and make the world a better place if I can, rather than just shaking my head at the sorry state of it and then sticking my head in the sand. I believe that prayer changes things, and I also believe that if others see Jesus in me by the way I live my life, it can have a positive impact. Even forums like this that allow me to express my faith may at least be able to boost the confidence of other believers, even if they don't persuade non-believers!
So, I guess you could say instead of allowing the world to shake me up, I'm trying to do my part to "shake up the world" !!

Yes at times I get very upset about the state of our country and the world is in. Christ is being taken out of all equations
which does not bode well with God.
However God said do not be anxious for anything for He is in control. So I come down from my soapbox , pray and calm down.

I received a phone call this morning that a resident at the assisted nursing center I volunteer at passed away overnight. This lady was precious and loved the Lord. While the news of her death saddens me, I have a peace in my heart that she is resting now with the Lord. I will miss seeing her, yet at the same time I know I will see her again one day. God bless you!!!

As I get older I am more at peace with knowing God is in full control, and that as long as my trust is in HIM I have nothing to fear. For I am a child of God. As 1 John 4:4 says "Greater is He that is in you , than he that is in the world"
Amen!

When my guard is down, I am very vulnerable. But i usually am doing alright and even if I let it get to me, I could shake it off quickly. All glory to God!

I have found that people cannot "push my buttons" unless i have them out there to start off with....
But i am not perfect and when i hear someone spout out ignorance on a subject i feel very passionately about, my mouth tends to open and my brain falls out! lol

There really is no reason to because God is always in control. As long as I keep my eyes on Him, nothing gets to me. But when my faith fails, that's when I do get shaken.
