Firstly I'd like to say happy Remembrance Day to our veterans whether ww1, ww2, and everything else since. Government doesn't take care of them too well either despite their sacrifices.

Canada is not perfect, no country is. It's true that in the last 25 years, with some Conservative governments and with some Liberal governments, poverty hasn't been a big issue for them. Why should it be , when elected to parliament most of the politicians already are wealthy or at least upper middle class? They don't see poverty around them because it's not in their narrow little world and probably hasn't been for many many many years.

It's not in the perception of most people in society either. Disabled people are virtually invisible and looked down upon. Everyone worries about child poverty and the homeless well they should , but what about disabled people who live meagrely, haven't had increases in their pensions or if they work their pay for years? Even if we do get glasses etc via the provincial disability allowance , the monies are 1989 prices and we end up covering alot of the costs unless we take the bare minimum.

Provincial government in Ontario has taken the right to have eye exams away , or chiropractic treatments or physio therapy for those who are over 18 and 65, yet many disabled people still need those treatments. Government in Ontario has discontinued foot care clinics for diabetics , perhaps they prefer amputations and that we die, rather than spend money on prevention.

Still I'd rather be here than anywhere else. Compared to alot of places even being poverty stricken in Canada is better .

People have to start stepping out of their comfort zones of their little communities and start actually looking around and seeing how other people live . And instead of codemnation of the poor, the disabled etc start to actually treat people with dignity and turn Canada into the dignitarian society it can be and should be.
