You want something compact and tough. Compact so you can take it around and it won't catch on stuff or weigh you down. There are so many cameras that take great photos right now, that you should be looking at just about anything that will give you a digital photo. Try to find out from the yearbook prublishers what minimum density photo they recommend or you can just shop for the smallest highest-image-density camera $150 will get you. Don't spend any money on "bells and whistles". Option for flash or no-flash and a little bit of zoom will get you all the options you need on the camera - don't pay for video-capable or pre-publish stuff - you will tweak the photo in an editing program, not on the camera.

I'm 14 and I like the hotpicks camera, and the sony cybershot
the kodak easy share v1003 and the fugi film 25fd
check the oct.2007 issue of Cosmo Girl for more ideas
a coolpix camera is good too

You would most likely want a compact camera that will enable you to have it on hand for those unexpected, yet memorable moments during the school year. The Nikon Coolpix line starts at around $99 and are slim and light enough to carry around in a pocket.

A good camera for a 14 year old would be the Stylus 790 SW. I would spend the extra dollars for the special features of being SHOCKPROOF, WATERPROOF, and FREEZEPROOF. If you tend to drop, spill, and leave things in the car (winter in cold areas), this is the camera for you. Weather you're at/in the pool, snowboarding, or rock climbing, this is the prefect camera. (7.1MP- 2.5" screen)

You can purchase a digital camera, you can download your pictures on your computer and import them into your yearbook, heck you can create your whole yearbook pages on with your camera software. Sony, Nokia, are good brand names, but ask the clerk if you can hold the camera and ask him to teach you the features, you know where the button is to go wide or where the focus is etc. good luck and have fun.

Try the coolpix 10 LD cannon digital camera. It fits the budget, it's easy to use and basic and it won't break too easily (unless you try to).

Sony Cybershot S700 7.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom
It's great - small and unobtrusive, but its a Sony, so you know it is reliable.
Good luck!
