You can tell a lot about people, whether good or bad, by the company they keep! What is your opinion on this?

For the most part, I think that is true. However, there are a number of factors to consider, and we have to think about implications. For example, Mother Theresa spent her life surrounded by the poor and unwanted of Calcutta - what does that tell us about her? If we know people who spend their lives in a gang, what does it tell us abou them? How about people who spend their lives in a monastery or a convent? Yes, we can certainly tell a lot about people by the company they keep, but we have to interpret each situation from a thoughtful perspective.

Untrue. I have a diverse group of friends & acqaintences in all age groups who are very different from each other. I have a friend who's a doctor, and I've also got a friend who's a biker. I know successful people, and I also know people who are struggling. I am in the administrative field. My boyfriend is a metal sculptor. You can't really tell a lot about whether a person is good or bad by the company they keep.

I agree. I have a friend who's really cool, I love being around her, except when her other friends are around. They're catty, obnoxious, gossipy, and just generally annoying. Then I realized that when she's with them, she's the same way. So I only hang out with her if it's just the two of us. For some reason she's so cool when it's just us.

I've missed out on many a party because I knew her other friends were gonna be there. I'd rather be alone than get stuck with them for an evening.

I agree with Semper. I think it's true in many situations. After all, people tend to gravitate towards those with whom they share common beliefs, interests, habits, and so on.... But there are also a lot of people who are the exact opposite (or a blend of both) for whatever reason/s.

That's not necessarily fact. There are a lot of good people that have friends that are the total opposites. Even Jesus, did not only keep the company of priests and prophets. He preferred the company of the sinners. Those for which He came to die for. Even us.

I agree. If you hang around with jerks, you will probably be considered one too! That goes for people in general, police and other higher ups whom you might not want to make a bad impression on, maybe job related. I was pulled over once simply because I saw a kid I went to school with walking and knew he wasn't dangerous even though he wasn't the model citizen, Anyway they pulled me over ONLY because he was in my car. Sad but true, you are judged by the company you keep!!

I am not trying to say that I agree with it, I'm only trying to say that at least in my experience, that seems to be the case!

Well yes and no.

As Christians we are to reach out so sometimes we will be with less desirable people.

But if there all look like peas on a pod, most likely they are all the same. But even then one of them could be drawn.
