Congratulations! Why don't you ask the whole family over to yours on Christmas or Christmas eve. Have a beautiful traditional Christmas, with the log fire burning, the soft scent of scrummy food, and maybe make up the words "we're getting married" in the actual food. I said to my sister ' how would you like to be my bridesmaid?' it was really cool cos she was genuinely confused about it all, and thrilled when I explained! You could send 'save the date' cards to everyone, or invite them to an engagement do, I just told people as and when I could, but I don't live very close to many of my friends or familky

Have a big new years eve party and tell them all at one minute to midnight, maybe with a few fireworks thrown. Wow, wish I'd thought of that when I got engaged.

Why doesn't everyone meet at a local restaurant and then you could announce it there or why don't you have a get together and do it that way

If you get together for Thanksgiving or Christmas, make the announcement then. Make a toast for the holiday and family then throw it in there and surprise them

Throw a party it doesn't even have to be elaborate- afternoon tea, cheese and wine, mince pies and champayne - invite everyone and tell them.
