Glock has the reputation for not jaming, and the XD has the reputation for accuracy, but I would like to hear from someone with first hand experiance. How often do they jam? how does there accuracy compare?

In about 20,000 rounds my Glock has jammed three times, twice due to malformed ammo and once because I limp wristed it when I was new to it. If a Glock is jamming 1% of the time there's something seriously wrong with the gun or the shooter. See the Glock 21 torture test at the link below, 10 years of neglect and 15,000 rounds with total reliability.

My Beretta 92 has never jammed, but that might be more because I've only put 1000 rounds through it because I can't stand the grips (waiting for Beretta to ship the ones I ordered) and it's bulky and feels nasty. I get no pleasure from shooting it though it works OK. I was stupid to buy it but I thought I might like it better without the tacky rubber grips, time will tell.

Accuracy is a wash, I can put everything in the black at 25 yards with both. I'd say the Glock has the edge over the Beretta, but that might be because I prefer the feel of and the sights on the Glock.

No experience with the XD45, I just don't like the look and feel of them.

1911s can be entirely reliable or very unreliable. They are sensitive to ammo and magazine choice as well as minor mechanical faults. I used to get nose down jams with my Kimber and Chip McCormick magazines but it is reliable with Wilson Combat mags and anything I feed it.

If you need total reliability then go for the Glock.

All semi-autos could jam up. I never had a problem with my Beretta Px4 storm 9mm. My XD in .45 never jammed, and my 9mm XD did during my first two range sessions. I used stiffer ammo and it has not jammed since. All three brands are great guns and very reliable. I think the XD is much more accurate then the other two and I like the feel of the XD better. I am not a fan of Glock because of lack of safeties and overall feel.

A gun that jams 1% of the time is poo. By the way revolvers can and do jam also. They are less likely to but they do bind up. The Glock and XD are very unlikely to jam. The 92 runs like a champ with a little tuning. My experience is that the 92 is more accurate but I have seen some dern accurate glocks.

I have never had a jam with either of two Beretta 92's I owned, even with low or high powered shells (that jam other pistols), bent bullets or even empty cases. The Beretta 92 is the tops in reliability in my experience. Springfields are copied from Colts. My Colt 1911A1 jammed some with hollowpoints and low and high powered loads, and it could not withstand being buried in mud or sand as well as the Beretta. Some gunsmithing helps with feeding hollowpoints, of course. My brother-in-law has two Glocks, but I do not like his well enough to buy one myself. Neither of us can shoot very accurately with them. The Colt and the Beretta are not the best in accuracy, but they are adequate for most combat situations and fatr ahead of the Glocks. If I want top accuracy, I use a Heckler & Koch P9S with fixed barrel. Next to it are the costly SIG P210 and the CZ-75.

All semi auto will jam sometimes. In all my experiences with semi autos, the Colt .45 autos [originals] and the Glocks jam at about less than 1% out of 100. That is about as good as can be expected from something mechanical. The quality of the ammo fed to it also has an influence on jamming.

You may only have to find ammo that your gun likes, and it will never jam. The bullet weight, shape, and seating depth all play a part in the reliability of the pistol. Ball ammo will be most reilable, but you may find soft point, hollow point, and wadcutters that function in one of those mentioned, but not another. These guns you mentioned can each be extremely accurate.
