Human being onmivore doesn't explain why Christians are against it. Or why you should have control over what people eat. And I hate bacon

There is something morally wrong with eating meet. Is animal abuse mentioned in the bible as being good? Animals are abused kept in tiny cages and forced to suffer and take growth hormones before they are killed. You can eat meat but I won't so why do christians bother me about it

Because humans are omnivores, and bacon tastes good?

UPDATE:

It's not just Christians that are against vegetarianism. I'm as atheistic as they get, and I'm against vegetarianism.

One of the reasons I'm against it is that we are omnivores. Our teeth, and our digestive system are adapted to eating meals that are both meat and vegetable based.

You ask why "Christians" should have control over what people eat, when it sounds like you are the one who is trying to control what people eat or don't eat.

There's nothing morally wrong with eating meat. Eating one cow kills one cow. Eating soy beans destroys the entire ecosystem that was destroyed to plant your soy bean crop. You have not only killed acres of forest and prairie, but all of the sparrows, warblers, beetles, flies, mice, rabbits, ants, caterpillars, and frogs that once lived in that ecosystem - not just once, but all of their offspring and descendants that could have utilized that ecosystem.

So save an ecosystem! Eat a steak!

Christians are not against vegetarianism if done for health reasons. However they are against those which make vegetarianism a moral argument - binding the conscience of other people with a man-made law (a.k.a. Pharisaism). God has given mankind the fruits, vegetables and meats for consumption and those that equate the eating of meat with murder are seriously misguided and contradict plain scripture.

It is true that in the Garden of Eden there was no bloodshed and thus our first parents were vegetarians (Genesis 1:29). However after the fall God killed the first animal and provided mankind with their skin for clothing. After the fall of mankind into sin - both man and animals began to eat meat. That is correct before the fall animals were vegetarians but this ended at the fall. In this fallen world God has given meat to mankind for their consumption. Regarding Israel's ceremonial laws - Israel is commanded on Passover to kill and eat a lamb for this special occasion. Now these laws were ceremonial and thus ended when Jesus Christ the lamb of God came and died on the cross. In the New Testament we are warned of those which will forbid the eating of meats (1 Tim. 4:1ff) but that all things, received with thanksgiving is good and acceptable.

1 Timothy 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

As Mike M just said, who said we're anti-vegetarian?
As for the basis for eating meat, Peter had a dream where all food was laid out before him, and that is the basis of Christians no longer following the eating rules set forth in the Old Testament.
And I LOVE bacon.

I am a Christian but I prefer to be vegetarian. The prejudice, if any, is that most vegetarian recommendations come from non-Christian beliefs like Yoga, Buddhism, etc. Besides, there are New Testament passages that says anything that is fit to eat is good. They didn't know then of what we know now about nutrition.

Many of us Christians mistakenly believe that God created the animals for humans to kill and eat.

But nothing could be further from the truth.

Originally (just after creation), God gave mankind fruits, grains and nuts for food. That was all. Later, vegetables was added. After the flood, God PERMITTED man to add clean animals to their food source. For 'clean' and 'unclean' animals, see Lev. 11.

From a health-environmental-economic viewpoint, vegetarian is the ultimate. Soy beans, for example, has a much higher percentage of protein that beef (one of the clean meat). By combining grains, all the essential proteins can be obtained. Why feed 15 kg of corn-soybeans mixture of feed to cattle to produce 1 kg of beef?

To support my point, many of my fellow Christians will attempt to quote parts of the Bible that they think show that God said you can eat ANYTHING. Ha! I would really like to see them cook and eat crocks, snakes and roaches!!!

There is no Biblical basis for not wanting to eat the flesh of animals.
It is not a sin to eat the flesh of animals.
Vegetarians act as though there is something morally wrong with eating meat...there is no Biblical basis for that.

I think it says somewhere in the Bible that people refusing meat is a sign of the End Times, but don't hold me to that.

I am not anti-vegetarian. I could care less if you want to eat slugs, snails, whatever...just give me my meat....It sounds as if YOU are the one withthe problem. YOU are trying to control others with your issues about vegetarianism.

That's funny because many of my Christian friends don't care either way.

Eating meat is individual.
