ok, never mind, make this is a rhetorical question. A few mins ago, I posed a question targeted at fellow Christians, like myself. A swarm of atheists landed on the question, and in their folly, tried to dissuade me from sharing some info with fellow Christians. My question was very specifically targeted, I would've imagined the expression "Christians have you..." have a very specific deictic function not so? Well, they then start with their ignoramous insults, attacks and anal blossoms... when in fact, we are the ones who make an effort to love them. We try to be charitable and PLEDGE to make an effort to be principled human beings, who make moral decisions and act with kindness and compassion. One'd imagine that *that* is something somewhat deserving of at least a little pat on the back! But as their sadness would have it, they simply HAVE to take a bite from the hand that feeds them...

Not all are sad, but some are a little outspoken. That however applies to all groups, regardless of religion or race.

I did read your other question but didn`t consider it fit that I should comment on it, as christians have a right to inform one another just like anyone else.

Your kindness and compassion does outstrip that of many of your fellow christians

Peace and love..!!

Well I think we just feel sorrow for those who believe in made up things that in no possibility can be real. Maybe us atheists have come to terms with the horrible state that our planet, our world, our only home is in. Maybe us atheists see all of the terror the rape the child abuse the devastation that goes on in the world and feel sad for them. Maybe some atheists used to be religious but "God" failed them. Praying to an imaginary person is not really going to help. The better question here from my point of view is How can people be happy all the time when there is so much sorrow...? Surely all people of all religions in the world are sad at some point in time.

WHOA WHOA WHOA...did you say that hand that feeds them??? SINCE WHEN WERE CHRISTIANS THE BEST I THOUGHT ALL PEOPLE WERE EQUAL NO MATER WHAT THEIR SKIN COLOUR NO MATER WHAT THEY BELIEVE!!! Now I don't know if you are a boy or girl but I am guessing a girl from your picture so:
Young lady did you mother ever tell you of cocky people? If she did the point was not to make you a cocky person. People in this society do not like cocky self centered/ absorbed greedy/ selfish people!

this is an open forum my friend, people with other views will respond

but don't you agree reading should be encouraged.

as close as you hold your faith, others will push it away with the same zeal. Not all of them Atheists. History plays a great part in this anger, so much has been done in the name of Christianity, good and bad.

So no surprise that some write it down, be it a song, or a novel,

calling someone sad because they don't share your views, could as narrow minded as those who would call someone sad, for being christian or having faith.

We all need a little more tolerance, and may be the world will be a little nicer for it

I don't think anyone would be sad if they were smoking what you are. The point was with your other question is that you presented the Golden Compass as evil because it holds views different to your own. Atheists aren't sadder than any other group of people we just don't believe in God. And what do you mean by "take a bite from the hand that feeds them"? It must have been opposite day when you picked your name.

Your name seem a bit disingenuous. You fail to see or understand the situation that is life. We actually don't want your "love" as I'm pretty sure you have no idea what that really means. I also find those who purport to make "moral" decisions don't actually define what "moral" is but rather rely on some other entity to define it for them. Atheists actually have the ability to know right from wrong and take responsibility for their actions. Their understanding of what is moral based on reality not some archaic and naive standards.

And quite frankly life can be sad sometimes, especially when the masses are so closed mind and blissfully ignorant of the true turmoil around them and the causes of that turmoil.

So because some atheists disagree with your advocacy of boycotting a film that has the unmitigated temerity to disagree with your religious beliefs, all atheists must be sad?

You claim to be pledged to act with kindness and compassion. That you make an effort to act on principles.

Neither of these activities (the boycott, or personal attacks on atheists who disagree with you) seem to be very kind, compassionate, nor principled.

And "the hand that feeds them"???

Are you suggesting that atheists are somehow indebted to Christians for their meals? That somehow Christians are in charge, and we atheists should be happy you deign to throw us some scraps every once in a while?

Yeah, sure sounds like you're making an effort to love atheists.

we are not sad people.
im guessing your a christian, which is fine.
i have never said anything bad or looked down on the christian religion just because i dont believe in it, so i dont think its right for you to be making such a hasty statement just becuase someone said something that offended you.
religion is a personel choice and if someone dosen't have a religion dosen't make them sad, just as being a christian dosen't mean youre necessarly happy.
one of my friends who is a atheist is constantly helping people, sponsers a girl in guatamala, was voted most kind, happiest and most helpful in out year book last year.
im not trying to turn you from your religion, im just trying for you to see that just because someone dosen't believe in god, dosen't make them unfriendly, sad, mean on not helpful.
on the other hand, every religion got some sad people, so i wouldnt ask a question as broad as this again or you could get some very angry comments.
i myself am pretty happy go lucky. so im not mad or pissed.im just trying to infrom you nicely that we are not generally "sad people"
actully i find most athiests to be happy because they dont have to answer to anyone and most of them have been raised christians and were very unhappy being one and have become so much more happy after converting to athiesm because now they are "free"
hope this helps answer your question!

I'm atheist although there are times that I veer towards being agnostic. I don't think atheists are sad people, they're just irritated at the smug, occasionally arrogant behaviour of some "know it all" Christians who think they're the best people in the world.

I am an atheist and I am not a sad person.

When you post a question on an open forum such as Yahoo! Answers R&S, you cannot control who will answer or how they answer.

If you want christian answers, you would do better visiting a specifically christian forum instead of this one.

Calling atheists names, and insulting them is not evidence of any effort to love them in my book. I judge people not by their empty words. I look to their behavior, and your behavior is evident.

As you don't know me, why do you assume to know me with the generalization above? Perhaps people would be better served without dosing out generalizations.

On an open board you have to expect to see people answer who will not agree with you. I don't get bent out of shape when theists answer my questions that aren't directed at them. Not everyone is going to share your opinions.
