Searcher is completely right.

I also find it sad that atheists do not treat religious people like humans on the internet and wait for these questions to come in and preach Atheism just like the Christians that they hate. I think most people are just hypocrites, and most atheists fall in that category too.

That 40% (I think you are exaggerating, but whatever) is probolby wondering why the other 60% believe in God.

As long all of you behave civilly towards each other and do not harm or try to violate each other's rights, can't you just live and let live ?

And I pose this rhetorical question to ALL of the students ? Are the non-God believers harassing you over your faith ? Are the believers harrassing the non-believers ?

Is having the same beliefs about the existence of God a pre-requisite for getting along ?

I'm a few years younger than you and I understand you. I no a few kids who dont believe in god either. That is because of the growing number of sources being given to kids that give evidence that god is not real, that make complete sense. Plus, so many bad things happen to kids and teens these days, that its almost impossible to believe that there is someone looking out for you. Its easier to just look out for yourself.

Perhaps it starts at home. Many parents that don't believe don't give their kids an opportunity.
So I think you should start inviting some of your friends to your youth group and see if that could broaden there views on God.
If you don't have a youth group look for a young life group.
Never feel embarrassed to talk about what and why you have God in your life and then pray for your friends. God does answer prayers all the time!

Well, many times youths think they have 'time'. Time to do whatever they want and live however they want and they are counting on having enough time to THEN come to Christ.

Also, some youths don't have parents who value a belief in God, so this might be a reason also.

Parents don't seem to have time to take there kids to church or teach them about God any more. And they took prayer out of the schools. I am happy for you maybe if they see how much you love the Lord and how happy you are they might change there minds.

There always has been, and always will be people that don't believe in God. The important thing is that you make up your own mind.

Some people are simply different. If you like tomatoe soup it doesnt mean everyone should. Maybe there are things in your experience that made you convinced that god is real, but there are kids who's experience is telling them the exact contrary.

And besides that, are you even sure that what you believe in is real? Why?

Which country do you live in? I will assume that it is U.S.

In one sentence here is your answer: your education system is the reason. It will allow textbooks and teachers to promote macroevolution (which is based on faith) but prevent teaching any other possible alternative, hiding behind any separation of church and state implications.

When I was a kid, I'd say the same percentage applied also.

I am 57 now.

Rule of thumb, don't assume until you know the facts.
