New cigarrette tax, more taxes on everything, and letting tax credits for middle income family are allowed to expire all in order to fuel the overspending of the government. And lets not forget to tax 20% of the American public more than others by continously upping taxes on smoking ( 7? times since 2000). Doesn't this sound a bit like discrimanation against a minority of population?

Lucky for us, that cigarette tax didn't pass, it was shot down.
Besides, the one thing that ruins marriages, causes deaths through sickness and accidents (more than smoking)
Costs each and every person in some way or another and IS NOT being raised in taxes all the time is
ALCOHOL!!!!!!!!
Why, because all the politicians, CEO's, Bankers, and others who wear suits, drink for lunch every day, stock their home bars to entertain or just "drink all day" and they don't want to pay more.
We should bring back the "luxury tax" on those who buy yachts, Ferrari's, expensive jewelry. etc.

Here's a good one to illustrate our tax money wasted. In the recently passed Defense Budget, there is a line item entry to spend 3 Million dollars to teach inner city kids how to play golf. True, look it up. Now what the f@#$ has that got to do with our defense?

"Sin taxes" like those on tobacco and booze have long been a popular way to raise more tax revenue. Since purchase of tobacco and alcohol products is voluntary, its politically less risky than raising income taxes or general sales taxes. The discrimination charge is silly.

yup

and since smoking is done more by poor people than the well to do, the added taxes land on the Democrats' constituents ... but somehow they don't seem to care as long as it generates more money for them to pass out.

Smoking is stupid. Increasing taxes on stupid behavior is one means society has to encourage getting smarter.
