Pangel has it right.
Life is about living. Which is why we call it life.
You need to stop getting your information on religion from redneck bible thumpers.
All Gods and goddesses are found in nature and human interaction. If you dont see God in the universe around you. (like i didnt) perhaps you should look for a different faith.
My last point is one that I am continually learning. A religion that isnt your own is not devoid of truth. If you look at Jesus' life and the things he did he had a very interesting message that is somewhat different then the bible thumpers are screaming about. It was about acceptance, diversity, and love. Not the conformation and single mindedness most "Chrsitians" preach. but all the things they say they are for. These things that they never do or meet for themselves.

we are part of the "energy-go-round".
and your idea about what "god" is is very small and human centered.
so, apparently "god" isn't "god" unless humanity is the center of it's attention and it does what you want it to do ..."save us". Just exactly what does that mean?
We get the same that all other living things get, a chance to be and experience, and the blessing of not having to be and experience anything forever. Pretty nice if you ask me.
Open up your perspective on "god" before it's too late, and you lose the chance to experience the true glory of the universe because you were looking for a big sugar daddy in the sky that never materialized.
The universe is awesome, and you have some awareness to be able to appreciate it. This is NOT a dress rehearsal. The moment you start really living, you will not have to ask why you are alive anymore. It won't be an issue.

It may be hard to wrap you mind around, but we are here to live not to die. Our spirits or souls make choices on earth that have a lot to do with what we will go through after this life is over. But we are put here to make the absolute best of our lives. We should, as a people, be good to each other and help out when we are needed. This ensures a better after life. I don't know if that answers the question for you but that is my way of saying it. I know that it sounds like I still went to death but it is your life that counts!

We are all here to learn from experience since us humans generally learn the hard way, thus we come to this hell. Dying is just a part of life when we are born to another one. God doesn't show himself because there isn't such a thing, it's bigger than that silly, primitive idea of a long-bearded person look down on us. How would we learn if we knew all, if the answers were given to us on a silver platter? That is why higher beings or God, whatever you want to call it doesn't manifest directly and massively. At least that's what I think.

I was thinking the same thing myself recently. And this is what I've come up with :
I think life is about "moments". We can choose to make these moments useful, or pleasant etc..., or make them completely miserable.
When you start thinking in terms of power of God, or meaning of life (inspirational or otherwise) or what happens after we die, things get too complicated because we either don't have enough information or we are just too limited in our thinking.
Admittedly, this is not a "definitive" answer, but I think it is a "human" answer because it takes into account our limitations as well as what we know.

When god created Adam and Eve to live on the earth, He had no intention for them ever to die.
They brought it on themselves by disobedience.
(Genesis 2:16-17) And Jehovah God also laid this command upon the man: “From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction. 17 But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.”
They disobeyed and because of that, eventually died. Prior to this they were perfect. disobedience brought imperfection. And we have inherited this imperfection. the result is that we all eventually die.
But because death was not in God's original plan,, He has promised that through the sacrifice of Jesus, death will be removed.
(Revelation 21:4) And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
If anyone thinks that death is 'normal', why does the Bible...God's word to us...regard it as an enemy.
(1 Corinthians 15:26) As the last enemy, death is to be brought to nothing.

That would be, "other than to die." I'm a spiritual being having a human experience. I'm here to live, love and glorify God.
God does show himself every single day to believers. If you don't believe you don't know him when you see him, because you have no idea what to look for to see him.
He has already saved me and is preparing a place for me that where he is I may be also, forever.
Without faith you wouldn't understand. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1
"But without faith, it is impossible to please him [God]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." Hebrews 11:6.
May you find it in your heart to someday diligently seek him while he may be found.
God bless you.

To answer the second part of your question first, God HAS shown Himself to us in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ. He is God in the flesh.
I certainly believe God has a plan or purpose for every one of us. Many people go through life without ever thinking about it—but that doesn't change the fact that God put us here for a purpose.
In other words, we aren't here by accident; we're here because God put us here. And He put us here for a reason—so we could come to know Him in a personal way, and then live the way He wants us to live. This is the greatest discovery you will ever make: You were created to know God, and to be His friend forever. As a young boy, my mother taught me these words from our church's statement of belief: "Man's chief end (or purpose) is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever." I've never forgotten this.
God not only has a general purpose for each of us, but He also has a specific plan for each of our lives. God knows all about you, and He has a plan for you. That's why you can pray and seek God's will when you face decisions, and it is why you can know God is with you every moment of the day. The Bible says, "Teach me your way, O Lord; lead me in a straight path" (Psalm 27:11).
How do you find God's plan for your life? The first step is to commit your life to Jesus Christ. Don't wander through life without any purpose or direction, but by faith commit your life to Christ and learn to follow Him.

Death is not the end
The best way to prepare for a good death is to live well, lovingly and graciously
I would be more obvious and direct if i were god but God is very much revealing Himself anyway in the love ,faith and hope of others.

God does not show herself for a very good reason. It would spoil the entire process.
The trick here is to convince you that you are the body.
Love and blessings Don
