Nothing will happen if the child swallowed it, you are lucky the baby did not choke! A 2yr old is too young to chew gum. It is a choking hazard and bad for the child's teeth! Do not give your baby gum!

Nothing, but a 2yr old shouldn't have gum. It's loaded with sugar and that sugar coats the teeth and stays there.

If you are so concerned as to the ramifications why do you allow a 2yo child to have bubble gum in the first place?

If the child is normal and has no problems with digestion the bubble gum will pass through. contrary to popular belief it does actually digest

Yup, I've heard the one about taking seven years to digest. Never heard that one about clogging your bum, however. You ever hear this one? Gum lodges in you appendix & causes appendicitis. Where do these crazy tales COME from?!

It goes through the digestive tract.
Goes down the esophagus into the small intestine. Through the small intestine to the large intestine. After the large intestine it gets pooped out.
