1 year officially (back in those days mom's had a decent amount of time to change their minds! - not that they were made aware of it, though!) I was placed with my family at 3 months after spending that 3 months on foster care
I have been told that it is none of my business who cared for me during those first three months of my life and I have also been told that the details of my birth and my own name and parents' names are also none of my business
In short, my own birth is none of my business LOL!!!

well that all depends on what date you want to go from. i was signed over the day after i was born and lived in a home until i was 1 month old. i think the adoption was "official" when i was 1 year.

I was taken from my birthmom the moment I was born, she wasn't even allowed to see me. However, I wasn't placed with my parents for two weeks.I spent that time in several different foster care homes, the idea at that time being that the child shouldn't be allowed to "bond" with anyone before being placed in the adoptive home. (What a crock of @#$#$. Thank God we know better now!)

I was about two or three months old. I wish my state would open the documents for me to look at. Are you considering looking for your birth family? If you are, Good luck!

Well...I don't really like to think of my family as my adoptive family. I like to think of them as my real family especially when I have a had bad experience in my childhood. I was actually 6 when I was adopted.

my adotion was final when i was about 2 yars old. i think it was cause of the finality of it. (through the courts) back in the 40's it was harder then and all my records are sealed.
