just as the cars are coming down pit road I have heard them decide to change the pressure. How do they get them changed so fast while not holding up the stop? It seems like they decide and get it done within seconds

They are talking to the driver and asking for his input about how the tires are on the car and if he's tight or loose in the turns. They have tires ready to go as the car is driving to the pits and they have already added or let some of the air out to give them different pressure from the tires that are on the car.

They do it before the Pit Stops the driver will by radio state what the car is doing tight-lose and the crew chief will tell the driver were going to take 1/2 pound out on air pressure. The Tire Specialist will do the adjusting of pressure on the tires then and have them ready to go on when the driver actually pits!!!!

They can have the corrected air pressure in a tire, and when the car comes into the pits, they put the new tire on with the corrected air pressure.

The pressure is adjusted in the new tires to be put on the car in the next pit stop.

Uh, guys there is no 'air' in these tires (or very, very little). They use nitrogen to eliminate moisture to keep a more constant pressure through the track and race temp range. They use a bleeder button on the gauge to lower and raise pressure. Half a pound is not much.
"Tire Pressure" is the correct term.

Hmm, by putting more air IN or taking some OUT LOL They have digital air pressure gauges and their compressers right there so it doesn't take much to make some small adjustments.

tires gain so much heat the longer they race, so pressures need to be adjusted, so they don't get too over inflated, and blow out

With the help of a air pressure guage.
