Have all come to a unity of the faith?
If past prophets are sufficient, why don't we just go with Adam or Moses?
Does not Christ have a mouth piece (prophet) now? If so, who is it?
To Catholics: John was head of the church after peter died.

See Ephesians 4:11-13 below. The New Testament shows that the Lord Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers to train and develop people of God to be true sons of God with the fullness of Christ in end-time church. Apostles and prophets have been raised up now and will be around till the second -coming of Jesus Christ.

Ep 4:11-13 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers. For the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till all will come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

Here’s something interesting regarding prophets and apostles.

God sent angel Gabriel to Elizabeth & Zecharias to tell them that He will send the spirit of Elijah upon their baby John. The reasons were 2-fold: (1) to prepare the way before the LORD; and (2) to make ready a people (prepared for the LORD) (Luke 1:16-17). John the Baptist was that chosen vessel before the 1st coming of Jesus. And as John the Baptist prophesied, many came by the droves to repent (Matt 3:5-6).

But there is also the prophecy of Malachi that must be fulfilled. Malachi 4:5 says that God will “send Elijah the prophet (i.e., the spirit of Elijah (cf. Luke 1:7)) before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD.” There are 2 things to notice here: (1) that there is a dreadful day of the LORD (i.e., the 2nd coming of Jesus); and (2) that “Elijah the prophet” will be sent before His (2nd) coming. It is essentially a parallel case of the first coming. The sending of the prophet was necessary before His coming so that he could prepare the way before Him & make ready a people (i.e., cause them to repent so that they will not miss Jesus when He does come). A major difference between the first & the second coming is that the people who would receive Him in the 2nd coming will be a much, much larger number than that in the first. So naturally, God would have more than just one prophet to prepare this enormous crowd. God would have a company of prophets.

As for the apostles, they are the builders of the church. The apostles are necessary for building up a strong Bride of Christ. The Bride is becoming stronger & stronger, but it will take the works of the apostles to have the Bride finally resemble that radical, fiercely loyal & strong Bride God had in mind (see Song of Songs 4).

It seems like the apostles and prophets are coming up in this age. People like Chuck Pierce, Dutch Sheets, Cindy Jacobs, Rick Joyner, Bill Johnson and more seem to be proving themselves to be the pioneering apostles & prophets of these last days. Many more are rising up even as I write.

You are right, we have not come to a unity of the faith. Even within the "Christian" community, or maybe especially within, no one can seem to come to a concensus on what God wants. It'e like the joke, get three Christians together on a Bible verse and you get five different interpretations.

IMHO, we have never needed a prophet and apostles more than we do today.

As long as one man preaches the word of God, we have enough. If you believe then you can tell others, remember God is Love and Jesus died that we might live with God for eternity in heaven. Spread the Good news my friend.

Don't worry about it, religion is mostly a load of made up rubbish by people unable to reason with their own intelligence, as a means of controlling others and to somehow make sense of a seemingly senseless Universe.

Go and help someone and you'll get the same feeling as a years worth of Bible Studies.
