First of all my condolences to you and your family.

Unfortunately there are no public transport as such from the airport but there are shuttle services.

Taxis will cost you between AUD$50-AUD$100 (never done it myself so I cant say exactly. There is a taxi rank outside the arrivals hall.

Alternatively, there is a Fremantle shuttle which appears to go to the destination of your choice, but to double check: http://www.westernaustralia.com/en/Pages/Transport.aspx?n=Airport_Shuttle_Fremantle_and_Surrounds&pid=9000201

If the Fremantle Shuttle doesnt take you direct to your desired choice, if you get dropped off at the Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle they should have taxis available or will be able to call one for you.

Phone numbers for taxis (just in case)
SWAN 13 13 30
Black & White 13 10 08

Good luck!

I just wanted to clarify - when you say 'A place called Hilton', do yuo mean the suburb or the hotel?

The Hilton hotel is located within the Perth CBD and may arrange airport pickups, but wouldn't have their shuttle bus running that time.

As others have said, Hilton as a suburb is not so far from Fremantle.

A useful website to get your bearings is http://www.whereis.com.au - you can either get a map of the area he's staying, or even show the directions/route from the airport.

Kardinya is not that far from Hilton, and a taxi from airport to Kardinya is A$50-60. There is also a surcharge after midnight for the taxis, just a couple dollars. No need to call a taxi, there's a taxi rank at the airport and if no taxis are there at the time there is a phone there i believe.

Unless finances are REALLY tight, i would not recommend crashing at the hotel and waiting for a morning bus. To get from the airport to hilton would probably require a couple of bus changes, and if there's luggage as well its just inconvenient. Would probably cost $3-4 I think, been a long time since i caught a bus in perth. But if you really do want public transport, check out the below website. But Perth is a little behind when it comes to public transport... no train stations at the airport, and not too many busses servicing the airport.

Good luck to him.

I live in Perth. But am not too knowledgable about our airports. Still I know more than you I exxpect.

OK the domestic airport is near Great eastern Highway and it is a long walk to it from the terminals (maybe 3-4kms). So you would have to take a taxi. You could catch a bus on Great eastern Hwy to perth (5 to 10 kms) and a train or bus to Fremantle from Perth.

Trains and buses in Perth seem to stop running as far as I know about Midnight to 1AM, and some areas much earlier.
So you could wait at the airport until morning to get public transport. I expect there are shuttles at the Airport during the day to take you to Perth but I don't think so late at night.

Please check out Transperth in Google to get schedules and fares for Public transport in Perth.

The international airport is also a long walk to get to the main road. Either Tonkin Hwy or Leach Highway are closest main roads.

I guess if you cant afford taxi all the way to Hilton which I expect is about 25 kms (?) then you'll have to wait 4-5 hours till the buses start running.

I realise I've been no help. But thought I'd try.

Swan Taxis is one of our main Taxi companies and I'm sure you can get a taxi quick anytime at the airports.
