I've never been drunk before, but obviously alcohol isn't a hallucinogenic, since Absinthe (supposedly) is and people make a big deal about that.
So if alcohol isn't hallucinogenic, whats the deal with pink elephants? How did that cliche get started? What are they symbolic of?

Dumbo and Timothy Q. Mouse get drunk off Champagne, Dumbo dreams about pink elephants and wakes up in a tree with some stero-typed crows in Walt Disney's "DUMBO". This movie was made in 1941, so maybe ?

thy indeed as princes lea said caused by delirium when you are an alcoholic you can see all kinds or hear all kinds of things that are not there mostley when you are sobering up
