These jobs would be beginning salary, with raises available as in other jobs that pay minimum wage. NO TIPPING ALLOWED, but minimum wage paid.
I am directing this to unemployed people who have lower playing jobs now; or are interested in finding a job.

I am NOT directing this at doctors, lawyers, educators, union representatives or other employed people who make well over minimum wage.

For those answering "yes", would you mind giving any reasons you have? Thanks

This question is in the Etiquette section because so many questions and answers are about tipping.

Pardon my error. I'm directing to people who are currently unemployed, or those who might be looking for a minimum wage job.

The purpose of the question is not whether Mr. X, Y, or Z can feed his respective 3, 6 or 9 children (some people even choose to have a dozen children).
The POINT is, whether we could fill the positions of servers at minimum and upward wages.

Are you hungry? Do you want a job? Do you need a start somewhere? If you are too proud for this job, you will have major problems later. We have all been there. Go for it and good luck.

These types of positions are usually filled by teenagers. Most of them are happy making a little bit of shopping money. If you want to fill these positions I would look into posting ads at a local high school. You just have to be willing to give someone with no job experience a shot so this may require more guidance from you or your manager. However, if you don't have some kind of promotion plan for hard workers you better be prepared to lose all of your good people.

You get what you pay for. I am sure you will fill the position, (with teens or the desperate) but like most of the answers stated they would all be looking for something else, this would be considered a temporary position for most people. You would experience more calling off of work, punctuality problems, and work ethics in general would be a problem. Paying a little higher wage will bring in a better quality of employee's and you would experience less turnover.

Waiting tables is hard work, doing it for a flat wage would be unthinkable to anyone with any experience in the field.

If I was getting min wage, yeah I'd take it. I think tips are only a supplement to waiters getting $3.50 an hour. I worked a job as a waitress making $2.50 an hour with tips shared between 6 waitress. I worked 20 hours a week and made 65 dollars. It sucked and that was before taxes. Had I of worked for min wage, I would have made double that after taxes. I didnt stay at that job long. It wasnt worth it.

I worked for minimum wage when attending college, but the unemployment rate was higher than it is now. You will probably have a hard time finding someone willing to work for that little.

I make $9.75 an hour in Las Vegas and I can't feed my three kids and keep a roof on them. Minimum wage is completely unthinkable.

yes if I couldn't find other work, but I would try to find a higher paying job in the mean time, I would rather work than go on
welfare because it is easy to become used to having nothing to do. I would also begin to feel that I was useless and
good for nothing taking hand outs from the government.
