Would this notebook be able to run Vista smoothly, or do you recommend I stick with XP?
> Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7100 1.80GHz
> 2GB System Memory
> NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GX (NB8M⁄G84M GS) up to 895MB TurboCache total graphics memory with 128MB dedicated for more than or equal to 2048MB system memory.

Will my system run smoothly all the time, even when I am playing games, or should I stick with XP?

These specifications will be able to run Vista smoothly. However, in my opinion, you should stick to XP. Vista is expensive and has numerous compatibility problems. Anyway, this notebook will be able to run XP, which has less-demanding requirments, even more smoothly. I recommend you to wait for an even better version of Windows that will be released in the future.

It seems that these configurations could handle vista or better xp. Vista shouldn't have any problems unlike before because Microsoft released a security update months ago. I have Vista Home Premium and its working just fine with all the games and stuff but I use it more on school work and the like. Since Vista has yet to prove its stability and worthiness to clients XP is the ideal choice. Plus, if you want complete stability I suggest that you wait until mid-2008 for Windows XP Service Pack 3.

That sounds pretty good for a game and vista, but problems with vista is that it takes up a lot of RAM since it's so graphically intense. I would recommend sticking with XP, but this is basically my personal experience and opinion, so don't take it to heart too much. I would ask around more, but I hope this helps.

NO, NO, simply NO. Vista is a wimpy system. I may say
that, because I bought a quite good desk top. I, wish I had my
windows xp back. Games will slow you down. This Vista has to be pampered. I have had several editions of xp. None of
them were as pissy as Vista.
Sorry Love!!

XP is the lesser of the two evils.

Edit: I hadn't heard of Vista (or playing games) actually damaging hardware. I'd be interested in a link to the documentation of such an occurence.

Stay with XP. As you don't have a graphic card but a chipset which eat central memory, it won't be great under vista.

I have Vista and it gets annoying. Just little things here and there that really get on your nerves, wether it can support it or not. I would suggest you stick with XP.
