I have this packet that has "the anatomy of a case" that I got at this law class I go to.
if you want, I'll type it out and you can decide what parts help answer your questions and what doesn't.
but here are some books you could check out that was suggested by my law teacher;
Arron, Deborah. "What Can You Do With A Law Degree? A Lawyer's Guide To Career Alternatives Inside, Outside & Around The Law," Niche Press, 1999.
Hegland, Kennedy F. "Introduction to the Study and Practice of Law in a Nutshell," West Publishing, Co. 2000.
Munneke, Gary A. "Barron's Guide to Law Schools," Rev.ed. Woodbury, New York, Barron's Educational Series, Inc. 2000.
Robert H. Miller. "A Complete Guide to the Law School Experience: By Students for Students." Martin's Press. 2000.
Cassidy, Carol-June and Goldfarb, Sally F. "Inside the Law Schools: A Guide by Students, For Students," New York, Dutton, 1997.
Morgan & Snyder. "The Official Guide to ABA Approved Law Schools," New York, ABA 2005.
"Financial Aid for Minorities in Business and Law." Garret Park Press, Garret Park, MD, 1990.

Contact your local Police Dept. and find out if they have a ride along program. They will allow you to actually ride with an officer for a shift and see how the policing of your community is accomplished.

LEXUS NEXIS OR WEST LAW FOR LAW BOOK OF CASES.
YOU WILL HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO SHEPARDIZE A CASE TO RESEARCH A DECISION AND IT'S EFFECTS ON POLICING.
YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHAT LAWS ARE? HOW CAN THEY BE ENFORCED AND APPLIED.
GOOD BOOK TO OBTAIN FOR AN INSIGHT TO WHAT I THINK YOU ARE TRYING TO DO IS "CRIMINAL PROCEDURE AND THE CONSTITUTION" WEST LAW BOOK--ISRAEL, KAMISAR AND LA FAVE. GOOD LUCK I HAVE SPENT 42 YEARS DOING THE LAW ENFORCEMENT THING AND YOU HAVE TO BE AN OFFICER, POLITICIAN, TACTICIANER, ENFORCER AND PARA LEGAL.
