I dont want us to segregate except for those who repectfully disagree and those who disrespectfully disagree. Lets put the disrepectful bigots together to rip each other up and put us nice and rational ones together to actually get some discussions going sans ad homs. This place is like an unmanned school cafeteria food fight.

By no means.

There's little purpose to an atheist-only category. Atheism is only relevant to religion as a whole, otherwise we'd just go back to posting in Biology, or Politics, or what have you.

And the Christians would post in the Islam section, saying "Do you know you worship a false god?", and that's still a question about Islam, if an inflammatory one, because you don't have to be pro- a given topic to post about that topic.

The rugby scrum is one of the best things about this site. And you'd be surprised how fast a Christian-only site, with only Christians on it, would devolve into sectarian infighting. And then you'd need a site for Catholics, and a site for Protestants. And the Protestants would fight, and you'd need sites for Evangelicals and Mainline Protestants. And you'd end up with sections called "The Church of Me and You and I'm Not So Sure About You".

Simply establishing who belongs under the Christian section in the first place would involve drawing lines that even Cyril Radcliffe would blanch at. (JWs? Mormons? SDAs? UUs? Quakers?) Remember that the typical Christian on this site enjoys nothing more than pointing out that a given Christian is not a 'true Christian'.

Tell me that the average evangelical wouldn't see an Atheism category as being a ripe target for proselytization, and perhaps you could bring me to see the merits of division. But I doubt it.

No, this is a free forum service offered to persons of all known Religious and Spiritual belief's from all over the world not just for Americans or persons who share just your own beliefs. If you want a separate service why don't you start your own up and share it with like minded persons like yourself who only share your beliefs. I find many questions from people who share your beliefs as friends on R&S and I respect there opinions on this forum as I respect all persons opinions on this forum. Remember at the end of the day we are all also friends here not enemy's.

Why would you need it? Unless your world view, whatever it may be is so weak that someone questioning it is so traumatic to you.

It would be a few posts in the muslim category, a few in the jewish category and the christian, atheist etc. and pagan etc. categories would be the same. You would just have to go to three places to see it all.

I'm just not sure I know what you mean. If we separated religions, we in yahoo answers would never have a real discussion again.

Yes because there are so many religions in this world.

What we can do right now is to respect other peoples belief and pray that they too would respect our belief.

I love seeing everyone elses opinion! There is so much to learn from differing viewpoints. It challenges my faith, which strengthens my relationship with God. Love it!

I don't think segregation is the answer. And besides, no one would stay in their section anyway.

It would do no good. Everyone would still come here, ahd the rippers would still rip and show disrespect, call names, etc.
