On what basis are scholarships given? GPA? SAT?

Depends if its a Academic Scholarship they will look mainly at your ACT/SAT score and then combine that with your GPA...Some scholarships are given based on a submitted essay that you can write on a given topic.....Mostly that about it check out fast-web for a variety of scholarships....or whatever school you are attending look at what scholarship they give automatically.

Lots of reasons. And most college have a department just for helping you find grants and scholarships. Call them for help and do some Internet searches. There are grants out there every year not used, because no one applied.
