a Sacrament is a special way in which we recieve blessings from God. if you're asking if smoking pot is considered sacramental to some, yes it is. there are the rastas, as a few have already pointed out, who believe that getting ripped is a way to get closer to God. there's also another pseudo-christian group in california called temple 420 that proof-texts certain scriptures in order to smoke pot as some kind of ''holy'' practice, basically ignoring the rest of the bible.

many of the rastafarian churches worship with the use of ganja.

so do several african charismatic christian groups.

is it any stranger than using wine?

[edit]

rastafarianism is not a cargo cult: it is a blend of (mainly) protestant and judaic beliefs with its unique prophet (hailie selassie: the lion of judah). in many ways it is similar to christian science or the jehovah's witnesses.

cargo cults are very rare these days, and most of them have a minor deity (john frum) rather than a new prophet at their core.
