i think its important to teach your kid about all the religions yourself because sooner or later if hes(shes) forced into one, he(she) will rebel against that one and choose another. if you leave it all open in the beginning and you teach your kid all the different beliefs your kid will be able to find his truth and hopefully THE truth later on in life.
I think its a fail-safe way to get your child spiritually fulfilled, the right way!
your an awesome parent

This seems to be an exquisite idea to me. I'm Catholic, but I struugle greatly with my religion because I feel as if I was forced into it. Because of this, I have become very interested and thus, have begun to study world religions. However, I'm not someone who's going to bash Christianity just to make a point that I'm a "rebel". I accept a lot of Christian teachings, but I also accept the validity of many other world religions. I think, more than anything, that Christianity and many other major religions have been transformed into something that they were never meant to be (through doctrines and what not). That is why research must be done. I wish I was someone that had complete faith in my religion, but I wasn't blessed with that. So, to fill the void, I have to educate myself. If I had been educated more early in my life, I may have had the faith in a religion of my choice. I may gain it someday, maybe in Christianity, maybe in some other religion, or maybe in some hybrid, but I'm going to continue to seek answers until I do.

There is nothing wrong with letting your child learn about the other religions and letting him choose which one feels right to his soul.
You are not "abdicating" your responsibility, as stated previously. You are teaching him the wider truth that there are many religions and belief systems in the world right now. That's an even bigger, more enlightening truth than the biased "truth" coming from the holy text of a religion.

Theres nothing wrong with that. Thats what Im doing with my daughter. I personally have no religion. Dont agree with any of it. But I have some faith and to me thats all I need. But trying to force a religion on someone is about as wrong as saying one religion is the right one with out question. Which isn't true. But having respct for all religions is something else.
So theres nothing wrong with what your doin, and don't let any tell you otherwise.

Do you want your child to be saved with the truth, How can one say they are Christian and not want to witness to thier very child, when we are Christian we are eager to spread the truth, and all of that other stuff, we know what a life lived with that will be, where it will end, why confuse your child with things that are not true, a Christian knows absolutely certain that Jesus Christ went to the cross in our place, for our sins, so that we wouldn't be seperated from God anymore, because God is Holy, A true Christian has repented, turned away from thier sins and asked forgiveness, True Christians have the Holy Spirit and will not lie, they would feel convicted, I'm not saying one wouldn't all together but you would feel an aweful lot of remorse for doing so, so many call themselves a true Christian but haven't been saved, then they do things, and set bad examples, if you have chosen your salvation, you have to be sure, positive, no backslliding, once you have it , you don't lose it, there is no other religion in your eyes, only the truth.

I am very proudly PAGAN!
I have been Catholic, Momon, and Southern Baptist. After having been exposed to those religions, they weren't for me. It was like trying to wear a suit to small.
I was allowed to make my own desision about religion when i was 16. Thats how i becamse Mormon. After several years it just didnt' fit, so i moved on. Same with the SB religion. There were things i couldn't agree with in any of them and for me they were deal breakers.
Lead your child to the path of religion, but definatly let him ask questions, let him discover the true religion inside of him.
All paths lead to a God/dess.

I think its good you're letting your son decide. More parents should be like you.
Hoping he'll choose the same one as you is natural, but imposing it on them is annoying.
I think the world would be a lot better if more parents were like you.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Sounds like you are abdicating that responsibility. First teach your son the truth. Later you can tell him about other world religions.
