That's the idea.
Usually people become Atheists after they gain more intelligence and gain a wider perspective of their surroundings and the world in which they live.
However, such as with my own children, some people choose to raise their children without religion in their household at all. It seems to be more and more common now-a-days.
EDIT: It's all about tenure, my boy. I smoke on this thing all day, in my classroom and on campus, and all that anyone can do about it is enjoy the smell.

Anonymous says that there was no religion in her home so she was atheist from the get-go. I have a friend who was raised in an atheist family. Her dad was atheist, and he ruled the roost. She was laid-back and whimsical about her atheism, but in fact she was "indoctrinated and brainwashed" like so many think of religious families. As soon as she broke free from her dad's dominion, she began to educate herself on world religions, and she went from atheist to agnostic to faith in a higher power. Just to show it CAN go the other way around.

I think Atheist concept are widely publicize more on this century that people know much more & better from what they have known & led to believed. I think they must be at one point in their life believe in something or belong into a religion that their parents or parent's parents followed.

Some are, but there are plenty that aren't, I dunno the stats. I never did. Also "following" is different from "being indoctrinated in as a child and escaping ASAP", if you get what I mean. So maybe they were religious on paper for their first few years of life, but not serious in their hearts.

I am one who did.
I'd like to see some statistics on this, though. My suspicion is that it's more than 50% in this country right now, but I have no way to prove that.

I don't know about "most" and I'm not actually an atheist, more like gnostic/pagan/ish, but yeah, I was raised Christian, deeply passionate about it, then found it to be wrong

I think so. I once believed there to be a god but decided in my teens that it was a silly concept.
