I don't get it. Period. I just don't understand. Religion is the core of most of the problems we have today. From extremist Arabs blowing themselves up in the name of Allah to even local places where extremist come around to your house and try to convert you. People will not hear anyhting against religion, and won't listen to logic unless it favors their point. I am willing to listen though. If some religious person can give me a point on religion and what it is really about without some crap about having faith and Jesus, I will listen. I am about to get attacked by extremist religious people. Let the mudslinging begin

I don't think everything in religion is bad. The problem is fanaticism. People take something that has some pretty good ideas in it and start attributing absolute beliefs to it. Then they start giving those beliefs the force of law and deciding life and death based upon it. That is when it gets crazy. Personally I think at its core, Christianity is built on some pretty good principles. Love, generosity, compassion, forgiveness. It teaches some great lessons. One of the big ones that very few ever learn is not to be judgemental. But people get so wrapped up in little things that are really unimportant that they lose sight of the core principles. The bible is just a book written by men more than 2000 years ago. Some of the stuff in it is good, some is not. a wise man should be able to tell the difference. Whether or not you have faith in Jesus or even believe that he really lived, if you read how he wanted us to treat one another, it was a pretty good idea. Most of the people who claim to be Christians really don't live up to it. Especially the "judge not lest ye be judged" part. Personally I think it is just as foolish to reject everything out of hand as it is to accept everything on blind faith. I think you can find value in anything if you look deep enough.

You say you will listen....as long as its not about having faith and Jesus. So you really won't listen unless we tell you what you want to hear. So, whats the point of speaking to you at all?
I don't like religion. I believe in love relationships with God. I've had one for 37 years and it is the most precious, valuable thing I possess. If you met my God, you would never want to be separate from Him again. I love Jesus because He loved me first and saved me from my selfish and self-destructive ways. I was battered and sexually abused growing up and Jesus is the first love I ever had. He is my hero, friend, companion, leader, teacher.....my everything.

What a fresh question! The arguments in this area are pointless. a million) I stick to the training of Buddhism 2) i became raised as a Buddhist, yet inspired to have self assurance what I felt became ideal. i became consistently deeply religious and felt very at residing house in the Buddhist device of ideals. 3) the objective of existence is to adventure the excitement of residing, and to end attachment, want, and different issues that reason suffering. 4) Buddhism is clever because of the fact it teaches that we would desire to no longer have self assurance in something till we come across it to be authentic. i think of it rather is extremely clever, dispelling dogma and promoting understanding. 5) Albert Einstein believed that Buddhism became the perception device that became the final nicely suited with technology and the widespread international. have a great day!

For me, religion is a personal and harmonious relationship with God. It has nothing to do with hurting other people. It has a lot to do with serving the omnipresent God by helping alleviate suffering in other people.

You have already labeled having faith and Jesus as "crap" so there is no point in answering until you change your own mind. Don't you realize that one of those pointless religions is already your own?

We were created for a relationship with God. Surely you must feel the longing in your heart to know him?
It's that simple. That's why religion exists, we're separated from God and trying to pick up the pieces. Most religions are man's attempt to reach out to God and impress him by following rules, or self-sacrificing, or giving big gifts, or building big buildings and shrines.
But hey, here's a newsflash - God created the earth and he created all of us - he is not impressed by our flawwed attempts to come to him on our terms.
But he does love us, and he reached out to us when he sent his son Jesus to die for us. Yes, God wants us and he wants us on his terms. It is never too late, he is always waiting for us with open arms, never holding a grudge!
