it takes the body several weeks to adjust to a new "healthy" diet that is sufficient in calories and nutrients before there is actual measurable fat loss through body fat analysis. any weight lost the first 10 days is going to be 90% water. the body does not rapidly changed from a state of fat storage to that of accelerated fat loss

If you do something like the Atkins diet that's probably going to let you see results in maybe less than a few weeks (read: 3 or 2 weeks?) but that kind of diet would be bad if you let it go on any longer than a couple of weeks. There's biologically sound information out there on the effects of certain diets like Atkins and South Beach so do your research before you try it. The thing about diets is that you should control portions and what you eat, while being as active as you can. Your food intake should match how much you move per day.

You are not going to instantly see results in a diet. Some people see results within weeks, some months. You just have to stick to it. You may feel uncomfortable being constantly hungry, but how much is the diet worth to you? I was about 40 pounds over weight and my diet consisted of 5 small meals a day to keep my metabolism running, exercise/workout 3 times a week, and eat healthy. I saw results within 2 weeks. Dieting alone took a LOOOONG time for me, exercising+working out not only boosted my results but gave me more energy during the day. I'm not sure what diet your on but make sure you add an exercise session in there! good luck :)

i did the medifast diet... i ordered it online and have never been more happy with a diet. i was the same as you, i got discouraged after weeks with such hard work and seemingly no results. But on the medifast diet I lost a total of 60 lbs in just the winter season alone. I lost a pound a day for the first week and a half and the weight came off pretty steadily after that. It's a strict diet, BUT IT'S WORTH IT. I never respond to questions on here, but I stumbled across your post and had to write, because the diet changed my life so much i had to tell someone about it.
best of wishes, don't give up!

I lost 57 lbs on the South Beach Diet....losing nearly 8 lbs the first week alone! It's a very good diet. It gets your blood sugar in the zone it needs to be in and you learn to eat good carbs and analyze every food you intake. I would recommend this to anyone who is frustrated with poor diets that don't teach you proper nutrition and give you the tools to change your habits for life! Please consider!

it will take more then a week to loose weight, each gram of fat stores about 9 Cal so if you want to loose 1KG you have to loose 9000Cal which is alot (about 5 days RDI), its much better if you make small changes to your lifestyle that you can live with for the rest of your life instead of going on a diet and putting it right back on.
