I've been having back aches two months ago and the pain hasn't recided at all. My back only hurts after I've bent my back, (when I've straightened it out). The pain isn't sharp nor is it a dull ache. Hard to explain, it just hurts.

An example is when I want to sleep. Our backs are naturally arched so when I go to sleep I kind of straighten out my back. Then nearly my whole back (mostly on my lower back) will hurt but the pain slowly fades after a while.

I doubt I have osteoporosis. It might be a muscle tear but it has been two months. My mum says she has similiar problems as I (the back ache) and she has went for a full body checkup including x-rays but the doctor could not find anything wrong.

The worst part about this is that I'm only 16 years old. I don't want to go through my whole life with a back ache. Please help!

try going to a physio or chiropractor. the chiro can help 'put ur back into place', and the physio could help if its a muscle problem. I have the same thing, its like this dull ache around the middle to lower part of my back. It.. like... hurts wen u relax at night (sink into the matress type thing) but wen u tense it a bit again it doesnt hurt? anyway mines cos apparently my muscles in my back are stronger on the left hand side (because i favor my left) and this is pulling em outta wack... mine hurts most wen its been a while since the chiro.. feels like it needs to be 'cracked'.
give it a try, u never know.

You can get backache at any age if you have done something to injure it. You could 'put your back out' by doing something as simple as sneezing or bending over to pick something up.

If you have not been to see the doctor then go and see him, quickly but on a day when your back is 'playing up'. Your doctor can't identify the problem if he can't see or feel it. If you have already been to see the doctor and are still having the problem then go back to him and ask him for more treatment. He might give you anti-inflammatories and refer you for physiotherapy if its bad enough.

In the meantime, ibuprofen should help. So should soaking in a warm bath. You can also get heat pads that you can put on your back.

When your back is better then gentle exercise, such as swimming, and stretching in the form of yoga, pilates or tai chi will help improve your muscle tone and prevent it happening again.

At your age you are probably still at school. Have a look at what you are carrying. Many school bags contain too much weight (books, files). Only carry what you have to. carry it on your back not over one shoulder or in one hand. If you have to carry it and can't have a backpack then have two bags and distribute the weight evenly across both of then. And of course, bend at the knees keeping your back straight when you pick it up.

You should not have backache at your age. It is not normal, so please don't leave it. So please go to your doctor and get some treatment. As you say, you don't want backache for life.

Have you tried a lumbar support? A rolled up towel can help to support your lumbar curve. Just adjust the width until it is not pushing on your spine, just supporting it.

You may want to try heat or ice as well. If over the counter pain relievers don't help and this continues, at least see the doctor for a check up. I hope you find relief soon.

If the pain becomes severe, or radiates to your legs seek medical attention immediately.

it could be a number of reason why your back hurts.

Are you overweight?
My moms has back problems, and i told her the more she weighs, the more pressure will be on her bones and joints.
weight lose can help.

also, it could be the way your sleeping or what your sleeping on.
When you rest, your spine is suppose to be positioned a certain way.
if its not, you could feel a little sore the next day.

could be hereditary...it could be from poor poster when you sit in a chair....could be muscle spasms.... I dont know.
Those are just a few of the things that i know cause back aches.

Have you fallen down before? Probably you have hurt your back. If not, it must be your posture. Do you sit up straight? If not, then when you straighten your back while lying down, the back will surely hurt. And again, maybe you have been standing or sitting for too long. Research shows that if a human sits or stands in one position for too long, the back is strained. So, investigate. Good luck.

It's difficult to interpret your description of your symptoms. It sounds like you (and your mom) have poor posture-your core muscles need work. Crunches and planks are good for this. It really wouldn't hurt to have a doctor evaluate it in case it's something worse, though.

you could try a neck/back pillow the foam kind. and/or a pillow either under your legs or in between. but, a regular pillow under your legs will work too. a big pillow. i read somewhere that it helps keep your back straight when sleeping. you can also try going to www.webmd.com

How about the arches on your feet. Are they flat? Too high?

* dont eat all of oilly food
* drink a lot of mineral water
* eat a lot of fruits
* try harder dont eat chicken or eat.

maybe it could be in the genes, maybe you inherited that from your mom, or maybe you lack some sort of vitamin or sumthing
